About the Role  

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated technical Team Lead to join our Platform Enablement team. As a leader, you will inspire and guide a team of talented software engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. Your expertise will be instrumental in shaping the architecture of our APIs, ensuring the scalability, security and optimal performance of the services that form the backbone of our platform.

Qualifications

About You  

We are looking for a candidate with the following skills and qualities: 

  • Extensive experience in designing, developing, and maintaining APIs using various technologies and protocols (e.g., REST, GraphQL, gRPC). 
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to lead and inspire technical teams to achieve goals. 
  • Ability to foster a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the team. 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. 
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and practices, such as Kanban or Scrum, and the ability to lead Agile development teams. 
  • The capacity to translate technical vision into actionable plans and help drive innovation. 
  • Ability to define and execute a technical strategy for API development that aligns with organisational goals. 
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages relevant to API development (e.g. C#, Python, Node.js). 
  • Deep understanding of API architecture principles, including microservices, versioning, and scalability. 
  • Knowledge of API security best practices, including authentication, authorization, and encryption. 
  • Understanding of database systems and data modelling to support API interactions. 
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and frameworks as they evolve. Willing to participate in on-call support within the team as required. 

The following skills and qualities will be well regarded: 

  • AWS experience and/or certification. 
  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. 
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker for packaging and deploying APIs.
