Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Kitchen & Laundry Technician to join our Engineering/Maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, and servicing of commercial kitchen and laundry equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Key Responsibilities
Kitchen Equipment
- Perform basic troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of commercial hot kitchen equipment, including:
- Combi ovens
- Cooking ranges
- Deep fryers
- Grills
- Salamanders
- Diagnose and repair both electric and gas-operated kitchen equipment.
- Maintain and service commercial refrigeration equipment, including:
- Walk-in chillers
- Walk-in freezers
- Ice machines
- Maintain and repair dishwashing machines and other small kitchen appliances.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment operates safely and efficiently.
Laundry Equipment
- Perform troubleshooting and maintenance of commercial washers and extractors.
- Service and maintain ironers and folding machines.
- Diagnose equipment faults and carry out necessary repairs to minimize downtime.
Preventive Maintenance
- Carry out Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) according to the maintenance schedule.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete service reports.
- Identify potential equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and manufacturer recommendations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma, Technical Certificate, or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Electromechanical, or Refrigeration Engineering.
- Minimum of 2–5 years of experience maintaining commercial kitchen and laundry equipment, preferably in hotels, hospitals, or large facilities.
- Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and gas-operated equipment.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs.
- Ability to read technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and equipment schematics.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment brands and control systems.
- Understanding of refrigeration systems and food-service equipment.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
