Job Description

The DC Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for leading one or more departments within the Centralized Distribution Centre.  Areas of responsibility may include receiving, picking, packing shipping, wire cutting and product returns.  You will be responsible for compliance to Health and Safety and regulatory policies and participate in related audits.  The Warehouse Supervisor plays a critical role in meeting the Company’s customer service standards. The Warehouse Supervisor directly administers the workload, workflow and scheduling of the team members. He/she carries out these responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies and the applicable laws and regulations.

  • Conducts daily startup meetings communicating operational and safety obligations.
  •  Assigns workflow, monitors workflow, work completed, error rates and related metrics and takes corrective action when required.  Using company tools, determines positions or tasks to be rotated and encourages cross training between team members and departments.
  • Manages the WMS and DC processes to assure efficiency of the operations within our continuous improvement program. Identifies barriers and offers solutions for improvement.
  • Ensures safety compliance in accordance with company and industry safety programs. Participates in company Joint Health and Safety Committee.
  • Ensures all team members execute assigned housekeeping tasks within area of responsibility.
  • Develops and implements training matrix and ensures warehouse employees complete training.
  • Maintains a positive work climate and collaborates with applicable Distribution / Warehouse Manager to improve performance issues related to the team members.
  • Prepares and communicates work and vacation schedules for team members
  • Provides ongoing coaching, training and encouragement to all associates in support of meeting productivity and continuous improvement goals.
  • Ensures proper health and safety measures are followed when operating machinery or equipment.
  • Develops and supports high performing talent and emerging leaders through hiring, scheduling, performance coaching, and career management practices.
  • Responsible for the proper maintenance and usage of equipment and machinery.  Notifies the DC Manager of anticipated repairs or concerns.
  • Reviews variance reports for specific areas of responsibility and offer solutions to ensure level of productivity is received and resolve current and anticipated concerns.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma with 3 to 5years of hands-on warehouse experience, or college diploma or a bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, or business with 1 to 3 years of experience.
  •  Experience with system implementation with WMS, ERP, AS/RS systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret relevant documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively in front of a group of team members to convey information and gain acceptance of ideas.

  • Incumbent is evaluated on his/her functional leadership skills; administering certain functions within the order fulfillment process; and training team members on the proper processes and sub-processes.  He/she is also measured on maintaining proper housekeeping practices and ensuring proper health and safety practices are followed within functional area of responsibility.

Additional Information

The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is CAD 65000 – 75000. Final compensation within this range will be determined by factors such as relevant experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity. This range does not include variable pay or other components of Rexel’s total rewards package.
