Job Description

  • Lead the delivery and continuous improvement of risk and change management practices across Jetstar
  • Partner with operational leaders to strengthen safety capability, governance and organisational maturity
  • Permanent opportunity based in Collingwood, supporting a dynamic, 24/7 airline operation

If you’ve ever thought about a career in aviation, now is the perfect time to take off with Jetstar. We’re looking for talented people who are passionate about making a meaningful impact, solving complex problems and helping us continue to shape the future of low fares travel.

As our Risk and Change Specialist, you will provide subject matter expertise across Jetstar’s risk and change management programs, supporting the consistent application of effective processes, systems and services throughout the organisation. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Safety Investigations, Risk and Change Management, you will work closely with business units, operational leaders and safety stakeholders to embed risk assessment and change management practices aligned with Jetstar’s safety strategy.

You will be responsible for the end-to-end implementation, integration and continuous improvement of our risk and change management programs. This includes facilitating risk assessment workshops, supporting safety improvement activities, guiding business units through change management applications and administering associated activities within Jetstar’s Safety Data Management System.

You will also prepare regular risk and change reporting for safety governance forums, contribute to the annual safety strategy and help ensure key and emerging risks are reflected in business planning. Through the development and delivery of training, coaching and guidance, you will build organisational capability and empower leaders and change champions to strengthen risk and change management across Jetstar.

Working collaboratively across Jetstar, the Qantas Group and the broader aviation industry, you will share insights and identify opportunities to enhance our systems, reporting and overall safety maturity. Due to the 24/7 nature of our operations, some after-hours work may be required.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience applying safety risk and change management processes and systems
  • A proven track record of managing workplace health and safety compliance obligations, particularly in relation to risk and change management
  • Sound knowledge of airline operations, ideally gained in a role with safety accountabilities
  • Strong data interpretation and analytical capability, including experience using business intelligence reporting systems
  • Experience facilitating risk assessments, workshops, training or safety improvement activities
  • A qualification in safety and/or risk management will be highly regarded
  • A creative approach to problem-solving, supported by excellent attention to detail
  • Exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with a variety of audiences
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate, network and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong influencing and persuasion skills
  • Sound working knowledge of computer systems
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under pressure and to deadlines
