Join Qantas in our brand-new Product Innovation Centre located in Adelaide will contribute to consumer needs by architecting and delivering robust, scalable systems that power seamless digital experiences, ensuring fast, secure, and reliable services that support evolving customer expectations.
As an Android Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the development of the software systems that power our business. Aware of Android trends, hands-on, and a skilled software developer with the experience to both dive into code and deliver high quality, well-designed software. They share a large amount of responsibility for the quality of the software being built, including but not limited to achieving desired business outcomes, meeting reliability and performance expectations and safely managing security and data privacy concerns.
As a member of the Mobile team, you’ll be directly involved in all aspects of our Android app from early in the planning and development lifecycle through to delivery and monitoring. You’ll be working with teams of mobile developers on a large, widely used native application that is an important self-service channel for our customers into many areas of our travel and loyalty business.
You’ll have:
- Confidence in applying patterns, techniques and approaches that ensure high-quality, highly flexible software.
- Strong ability to reinforce strong software engineering principles and best practices.
- Attention to detail and a quality-focused mindset with a strong background in testing and code quality, and interest in automation.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate technical requirements effectively to the Tech lead and Chapter Lead.
- Experience with mobile architecture patterns, dependency management, and build optimisation strategies.
- Knowledge of Google's Android design principles and interface guidelines.
- Recognition of the importance of good API design in mobile applications, along with proficiency in writing and maintaining Unit tests
- Interest in building and extending tooling and processes to improve developer productivity, delivery and consistency throughout the mobile teams.
