Your Opportunity
As the Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Advisor, you will lead the implementation of Safety, Health, and Environment practices across the Engineering AMO, working closely with operational line managers.
Reporting to the Safety Manager AMO, you will support the delivery of all workplace activities in line with occupational health and safety legislation, as well as company policies and procedures. You will also contribute to the ongoing development and execution of Jetstar’s WHS strategy, driving continuous improvement across WHS KPIs and providing expert advice and guidance to employees at all levels of the organisation.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Injury prevention and risk management, including support to frontline managers with the development of Return to Work (RTW) plans
- Supporting port and base managers to maintain compliance with the Qantas Group Drug and Alcohol Program
- Contributing to the ongoing improvement of Jetstar’s WHS Safety Management System (SMS) and broader WHS strategy to drive KPI performance
- Providing specialist WHS advice and support, including risk assessments across ports and guidance to managers, employees and injury management providers (e.g. UHG, Bodycare)
- Reviewing injury reports and supporting injured workers and line managers
- Coaching, influencing and building strong relationships to proactively manage WHS and foster a positive safety culture across AMO bases
- Promoting and coordinating WHS committees in line with legislative requirements, including performance reporting and support to committee chairs
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with WHS regulators
- Conducting WHS audits and incident investigations, and implementing corrective actions in collaboration with internal stakeholders
If you bring the following qualification and experience, then we would love to hear from you:
- Tertiary qualification or Diploma in Safety, Risk, or a related discipline
- Experience in injury management and Return to Work (RTW), including supporting frontline managers
- Proven WHS Advisor experience within a large, complex organisation
- Experience in WHS reporting, training, auditing, and risk management
- Strong coaching skills with the ability to influence behaviours and drive outcomes
- Ability to deliver high-quality WHS advice to a broad stakeholder group
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels and work both collaboratively and independently
- Proficient computer skills
