Job Description

The Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing heavy mobile equipment used in marine terminal operations. This includes forklifts, cranes, loaders, terminal tractors, and other diesel-powered equipment critical to cargo handling operations. The mechanic will support safe and efficient terminal operations while working in a fast-paced industrial environment.

  • Rotating schedules may include days, nights, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Qualifications

WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED:

  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy mobile equipment including forklifts, cranes, loaders, terminal tractors, and other industrial equipment
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, transmissions, and other mechanical components using diagnostic tools and technical expertise
  • Repair or replace mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components while ensuring all work is completed safely and in compliance with company and regulatory standards
  • Maintain accurate maintenance, inspection, and repair records and assist with emergency repairs to support terminal operations
  • Operate shop equipment and work collaboratively with other maintenance personnel in a fast-paced industrial marine terminal environment
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Valid driver’s license and personal tools required; previous port, terminal, railroad, construction, or industrial equipment maintenance experience is an asset
