Job Description
Continuing to grow our Engineering organization, we are searching for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer. This exciting role within our Engineering organization will have the opportunity to help us continue to scale our platform to meet the needs of hundreds of thousands of factory workers globally.
Working within a cross functional squad of value aligned engineers, this person will help with both the creation of new features and assist in the scaling of our core backend code base.
As such, this senior level role within the Redzone Engineering team requires a strong engineer that not only has skills in backend server development and architectures, but they also possess practical experience in aspects of scaling including caching, microservices, and modularization. The ideal individual is forward thinking technically speaking with a proven history of taking projects from concept to completion.
This position can be based anywhere in the US - remote. It is full time, exempt and requires minimal travel.
What you'll do:
- Collaborate with external stakeholders to design, estimate and develop requested changes to Scala Applications
- Attend daily team standup meetings communicating progress and assisting peers
- Review code of peers to ensure that all software meets high quality standards
- Comfortable working independently and in highly collaborative team environment to consistently deliver on your commitments
- Knowledge of recent developments in Scala programming and technology
Qualifications
- 7+ years’ experience as a senior level engineer developing backend applications
- 5+ years’ experience working in Scala
- Experience working libraries such as Akka HTTP, Tapir, Slick, Flyway, SBT, Specs2 and Mockito, and Kafka
- Experience working within Engineering teams in an Agile software development environment
- Experience with test automation
- Experience with common CI/CD tools and processes for managing backend applications
- Ability to work independently and remotely
Education/Experience
- Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
- A demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in a highly innovative and fast-paced environment
- Efficiency – always looking at how to improve a process
- Team player – work as part of a team and be willing to speak up when needed
- Experience working in a remote team

Compensation Package:
- Base pay range: $130k to $200k USD Annually (12 Months)
- Placement within our pay range will vary based on knowledge, skills, experience, and market location variations as well as internal peer equity
- This position is also eligible for an annual company performance bonus
- U.S. benefits package includes medical, dental and vision coverage, a 401(k) plan with company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, paid-time off, parental leave, and well-being programs
