We have an exciting opening for a Senior Retouching Artist (min. 6-month contract from September) to join our talented team. You will be responsible for creating high-quality imagery and executing advanced retouching techniques and see opportunity in every brief.

We are looking for someone who has a strong artistic eye, technical proficiency, and the ability to collaborate effectively with other team members. You will have exceptional attention to detail, a deep understanding of lighting, shading, and composition, and the ability to bring concepts and ideas to life through visual storytelling and excellent craft.

 

Responsibilities:

Retouching and Image Enhancement:

  • Utilize advanced retouching techniques to enhance and refine digital images, ensuring consistent quality and visual aesthetics.
  • Retouch and refine textures, colours, lighting, and overall visual appearance to achieve the desired final result.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all retouching and image editing tasks.
  • Strong skills in image compositions and large image extensions.
  • Eye for grading and colour correcting.
  • Manipulate and composite images, with ability to integrate CGI elements seamlessly with photographic assets.

Technical Expertise:

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and techniques.
  • Possess a strong understanding of lighting principles, perspective, anatomy, and visual composition.
  • Optimize retouching workflows to maximize efficiency and quality, while meeting project deadlines.
  • Processing Raw imagery through capture one software.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions to challenges that may arise during the retouching process.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with the creative team, art directors, photographers, and other stakeholders to understand project objectives and deliverables.
  • Collaborate effectively in a team environment, providing creative input and receiving feedback constructively.
  • Communicate and present ideas, concepts, and progress updates clearly and professionally.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines while maintaining a high standard of quality.

Quality Assurance:

  • Perform detailed quality checks on assets to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to project requirements.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine techniques and processes to improve the quality and efficiency of retouching work.

CGI Creation (desirable, though not essential):

  • Develop and execute high-quality CGI assets, including 3D models, textures, lighting, shading, and rendering.
  • Interpret creative briefs, concepts, or storyboards and translate them into realistic and visually stunning CGI visuals.
  • Collaborate with the creative team to understand project requirements and provide creative input and suggestions.
  • Ensure that CGI assets align with brand guidelines, technical specifications, and creative vision.

 

The ideal candidate is/has:

  • A strong portfolio demonstrating retouching work across various photographic fields (including food & beverage, editorial, automotive, product and beauty).
  • Excellent understanding of colour theory, composition, and visual storytelling.
  • Solid knowledge of photography and understanding of photographic principles.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a passion for delivering high-quality work.
  • Time management skills to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Some experience as a CGI Artist (highly regarded).
  • Proficiency in industry-standard CGI software e.g., Modo, Autodesk Maya, 3ds Max, Cinema 4D (highly regarded).
  • Examples in their portfolio demonstrating expertise in CGI creation, 3D modelling, lighting & rendering (highly regarded).
