Job Description

What You’ll Do:

The SVP of Comms Planning (Strategy) will be responsible for supporting the ongoing evolution of strategy and upskilling strategists in order to create and maintain a competitive edge for the agency.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of comms plans within new business context; direct team on data needs, identify business and consumer insights, define business driving strategies and create inventive connections plans that bring these strategies to life. 
  • Partner with Decision Sciences (research) and consult on proprietary research required to address client and prospective client information gaps. Does not need to be adept at designing research but must have experience writing qualitative discussion guides and directing quantitative survey questionnaires.
  • Drive Innovation and Thought Leadership agenda both as a new business asset but equally as an engine within the agency to drive modern marketing solutions for our clients.
  • Design and implement plan to upskill strategists in both fundamentals and higher order strategic skills
  • Inspire and guide strategists across the organization, even those without direct accountability via reporting lines. Lead, vs. manage, people to excellence.
  • Facilitate internal and client workshops and brainstorms with energy that drives desired outcomes. Partner with creative and content teams to translate strategies into business driving ideas. Partner with EVP/Head of Strategy to define and implement a plan to evolve strategy practice to keep pace with industry change

Qualifications

  • Minimum 15+ years of experience with 5+ years in comms planning/planning/or similar position; skill set must expand beyond media planning
  • Pitch experience with proven track record
  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA desired
  • Experience across all media types (national, local, digital, direct, programmatic, shopper, etc)
  • Ability to anticipate and quickly assess continually changing client needs and adapt resources and strategies accordingly
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, organizational, interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Ability to translate data into viable business solutions to enhance strategies and meet deliverables
  • Excellent leadership ability to drive team to deliver results
