Job Description
The Executive Regional Medical Director provides executive-level medical leadership and administrative oversight for all facilities within the assigned region. This role ensures clinical excellence, operational effectiveness, regulatory compliance, and alignment with Intuitive Health’s mission, culture, and standards of care across emergency and urgent care services.
This position requires credentialling with our health system partners and direct patient care in our sites to assess operational best practices and to allow for feedback to the local leaders.
This position also plays a key leadership role in supporting the integration of acquired facilities, ensuring successful operational conversion, physician engagement, and adoption of Intuitive Health clinical, cultural, and patient-experience standards.
The Executive Regional Medical Director reports to the Intuitive Health Chief Medical Officer and leads a regional team of Medical Directors and Physicians.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Integration
- Provide strategic medical leadership for the region, supporting the successful integration of acquired facilities through operational conversion, alignment to Intuitive Health standards, and physician engagement.
- Share best practices across the region to drive consistency, quality, and operational improvement.
Medical & Physician Oversight
- Oversee all aspects of medical oversight & physician operations within the region.
- Provide leadership, development, coaching, and accountability for Medical Directors and regional physicians.
- Assist as needed the Physician Management Group on Hiring, retaining, and developing a high-performing team of Physicians and Medical Directors who operate in compliance with regulatory requirements and Intuitive Health’s mission and culture.
- Meet regularly (at least monthly) with Medical Directors, program director and clinical director
Operational & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with regional operational leadership to improve facility processes and clinical workflows.
- Collaborate effectively with Operations, Human Resources, Marketing, Legal, Finance, and other departments to support regional objectives.
- Serve as an executive physician liaison to health system partners, supporting alignment on quality, performance, and operational priorities.
Quality, Performance & Standards
- Ensure excellence in regional patient experience, clinical quality, and operational performance, including accountability for NPS and other key performance metrics and reporting.
- Ensure accurate and timely physician documentation and coding in collaboration with Medical Directors.
- Ensure completion of Intuitive Health cultural and patient-experience training by Medical Directors and providers.
- Support implementation and sustainment of EPL (Enriching Patients’ Lives) standards across the region.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Strong alignment with Intuitive Health’s mission and culture
- Doctor of Medicine (MD or DO) degree BC/BE in Emergency Medicine
- Active, unrestricted medical license in Texas (or ability to obtain) and good standing with the Texas Medical Board and ability to be licensed in the states we operate in.
- Board certified in Emergency Medicine
- Prior experience as a Medical Director or in a physician leadership role
- Demonstrated executive presence, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with demonstrated success partnering collaboratively with Intuitive Health operational leadership and health system partners
- Excellent communication and clinical skills
- Demonstrated management, leadership, and team development capabilities
- Commitment to maintaining clinical excellence and staying current with best practices through continuing medical education
- Ability to travel approximately 50% to facilities within the assigned region
- Must be in close proximity to a major US airport
