Medical Assistant

Job Description

  • Greet and escort patients to examining room; make them feel welcome and comfortable

  • Prepare patient for exams; obtain urine specimens, check vital signs, document symptoms, complaints & medications

  • Ensure the patient's demographic information is correct and updated

  • Evaluate calls for emergencies and triage appropriately

  • Coordinate and schedule physician's appointments, meetings, etc.

  • Assist the physician, residents and fellows with exams and procedures

  • Give injections and/or teach the patient to administer injections to self

  • Assist patient with obtaining lab slips and/or referrals, scheduling procedures, prescriptions, etc.

  • Educate patients on healthcare concerns & problems, office & hospital procedures, medications, testing, etc.

  • Cooperate and interact with team members and coworkers

  • Maintain a safe environment for patients and others

  • Maintain patient confidentiality

  • Maintain patient flow

  • Follow HIPAA guidelines.

  • Other duties as required

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent customer service orientation and phone skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Exceptional organizational skills

  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective, working relationships

  • Ability to handle oneself in a professional manner

  • Adheres to policies and procedures

  • Experience:

  • 1+ Year of Experience in a Clinical Setting Preferred

  • Completed Medical Assistant Program

    Certificate/License:

    Medical Assisting Certification Required

    Education:

    High School Diploma or Equivalent
