To act as a non-medically qualified practitioner responsible for leading, co-ordinating, delivering and maintaining a high standard of day-to-day clinical care for all patients requiring Minimally Invasive surgery via day surgery and general surgery.   

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide support to the Clinical Manager and Clinical leadership to the ward, theatre, outpatients department and preoperative assessment team.
  2. Demonstrate expertise and share in depth specialist knowledge and skills to all members to develop clinical and professional practice
  3. Be proactive in resource management
  4. Engage and interact with patients carers encouraging them to be actively involved in caring process
  5. Work collaboratively and ensure effective communication between multi – disciplinary team, participating in the induction of locum staff to trust policies and routine

Qualifications

Essential

  • Current NMC or HCPC registration
  • Surgical Care Practice qualification

Desirable

  • Teaching certificate
  • Relevant Management / Leadership Course
  • Surgical First Assistant qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Established Surgical Care Practitioner (preferably within general surgery, but not essential)

Desirable

  • Evidence of surgical/theatre teaching (formal and informal)
  • Previous experience of staff development and performance management
