Job Description
Provide administrative support to department assigned.
Essential functions
- The Office Administrator exhibits Total Ownership for reception, administrative, and IT tasks, as well as acting as the face and voice of Parker Drilling Canada Company to customers, employees, vendors, and community members. Prepare presentation materials in a variety of forms and formats.
- Schedule meetings, organize calendar events and establish travel arrangements, including preparation of Travel Itineraries.
- Basic clerical duties such as filing, typing and answering the phone.
- Maintains file room for retention, protection, retrieval, transfer, and disposal of records
- Provide account coding for invoices for department.
- Coordinate the pre-filing effort with the printer and be the control-point for Microsoft Word documents that are used prior to feeding filing information to the printing companies.
- Support the month-end close and other accounting processes.

- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
- Ensure that personal behaviors and work practices are in line with Company safety standards.
- Responsible for safety of self and others in the vicinity to include, but not limited to, employees, vendors and guests.

- Do not take short cuts or unnecessary risks and actively work with others to ensure they take due care and do not put themselves or others at risk.
- Ensure all incidents are reported and appropriately investigated in accordance with Company procedure.
- As needed, seek advice from HSE representative.
Additional functions
- Responsible for providing general information about Parker Drilling to the public and customers.
- Ensures completion of paperwork, sign-in and security procedures.
- Ensures incoming/outgoing mail is received and distributed in a timely manner.
- Provides technical support for IT tasks; answers questions and addresses problems; gives advice and/or locates information to help solve IT issues.
- Coordinates with IT department to provide local IT support and guidance as required.
- Responsible for organizing files, preparing/typing documents, scheduling appointment and creating and maintaining spreadsheets.
- Responsible for scheduling and notifying employees of upcoming third party training
- Provide support to other staff members with local administrative support tasks such as filing and/or preparing/typing documents.
- Maintains a neat and tidy storage room.
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills and able to effectively communicate in a professional manner with staff, managements, customers and vendors.
- Completes other duties and special projects as assigned.

- A High School diploma is required for this position.
- A Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Should have at least 4 years of administrative work experience
- Must be capable of working in a team environment.
- Must be a detail oriented, self-starter and able to work with little supervision while maintaining goals/tasks.
- Should have strong PC skills to include all MS Office products.
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with staff, management, customers and vendors.
- Must be able to present self in a professional manner through interaction and communication.
- Must possess sound reasoning skills and have the ability to follow directions.
Additional qualifications, skills and abilities
- Experience within the Oil and Gas sector and Drilling Contractors is preferred
- Must have ability to maintain high standards of confidentiality, accuracy and timeliness
- Must be a detail oriented, self-starter and able to work with little supervision while maintaining quality
- Experience with a Learning Management System
- Advanced organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with staff, management, customers, union and vendors
- Must possess sound analytical and reasoning skills and have the ability to follow directions
- Diploma in office administration is recommended
