Job Description

Job Summary

As a Sr. IT Software Engineer at Palo Alto Networks, you'll join a team shaping the future of cybersecurity through innovative design, backend development, and AI. You will be instrumental in building autonomous AI agentic solutions that proactively plan and execute multi-step tasks using various tools and APIs. This role is critical to our mission of protecting our digital way of life by leveraging cutting-edge technology to solve complex security challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, query, optimize, and manage NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) and relational (MySQL/MSSQL) databases, ensuring performance and reliability.
  • Develop scalable, maintainable, and high-performance microservices using Python or Java with Spring Boot, focusing on RESTful API development and security.
  • Design and build autonomous AI agentic solutions, applying hands-on experience in LLM architecture, fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
  • Develop and orchestrate agentic workflows (A2A) that leverage LLM reasoning for independent decision-making and complex task execution.
  • Utilize Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services for deploying, managing, and scaling applications on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like Harness or Jenkins to ensure smooth, automated deployment cycles.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features, ensuring alignment on technical solutions and project goals.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent military experience.
  • 3+ years of software development experience, with at least 2+ years of hands-on experience in designing and building autonomous AI agentic solutions.
  • Strong proficiency in Java programming and the Spring Boot framework for building scalable microservices.
  • Expertise in NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra) and SQL (MySQL, MSSQL) databases, including schema design, querying, and performance tuning.
  • Demonstrated experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services and deploying applications on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with LLM architecture, including fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
  • Proficiency in Python for backend development and data processing.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Harness or Jenkins, version control with Git, and automated testing frameworks.
  • Experience in the cybersecurity industry.
