Job Description
Your Career
Palo Alto Networks operates a massive hybrid-cloud ecosystem. As a Sr. Staff DevOps Engineer, you will be a cornerstone of the team architecting the tooling and frameworks that manage this scale. Your mission is to push the boundaries of infrastructure efficiency, performance, and security through high-level automation and visionary architectural design.
Our stack is diverse: Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, GCP, Terraform, Kafka, Redis, Pub/Sub, BigTable, VertexAI, BigQuery, MongoDB, Python, and Go. While we don’t expect mastery of every tool on day one, we expect a seasoned engineer capable of mastering and integrating these technologies to solve enterprise-scale challenges.
Your Impact
Manage and improve reliability, performance, and scalability of production and pre-production systems.
Spearhead the transition toward fully autonomous operational processes using infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and sophisticated CI/CD pipelines.
Define and govern SLIs/SLOs/SLAs to ensure rigorous service standards and measurable reliability improvements.
Build and oversee comprehensive observability ecosystems—integrating metrics, logging, and distributed tracing to provide deep system insights.
Participate in on-call rotation and incident response; drive post-incident reviews and RCA.
Collaborate with developers, researchers, and security experts to bake resilience and fault tolerance into the initial design phase of a product.
Design, deploy, and operate secure, high-availability cloud infrastructure while aggressively optimizing for cost and resource efficiency.
Mentor junior and senior engineers alike, championing a high-performance DevOps culture and leading complex design reviews.
Qualifications
Your Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of professional experience in DevOps, SRE, or Infrastructure.
Expertise in managing distributed and autoscaled applications in Kubernetes clusters
Expertise in configuration management with a framework such as Helm, Terraform, or Kustomize
Extensive experience managing hyper-scale environments within GCP, AWS, or OCI.
Strong Linux administration, internals, and network troubleshooting
Proficiency in Python, Golang, or Rust to build custom tooling, manage data systems, and automate intricate workflows.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, GitLab and GitHub preferred
A proven ability to dissect and debug complex distributed systems handling high-volume, mission-critical transactions.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and rally teams around technical initiatives.
A high degree of ownership, urgency, and the self-discipline to navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
