Job Description
The Cross Border Carriers Procurement and Operations Manager is responsible for procuring Mexico-U.S. carriers on all the 33 crossing points in this border, as well as overseeing the day-to-day management of all of these carriers. The primary goal of this position is to ensure we have one SME point of contact for carriers that provide cross border drayage between these two countries.
Shift
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, On-call availability required due to the 24/7 nature of logistics
- Occasional weekend or travel commitments may be necessary
Key Responsibilities
- Secure a minimum of ten qualified carrier options per U.S.–Mexico border crossing point (33 in total). Conduct audits and physical visits to ensure compliance with TA service levels and certifications (CTPAT, OEA, Transporte Limpio).
- Oversee daily operations, manage capacity and rate sheets for each carrier, and ensure efficient carrier allocation across the TA customer base.
- Monitor tolls, crossing times, and resource usage to maintain the most competitive and efficient pricing structures. Continuously negotiate and adjust rates as needed.
- Maintain positive relationships with carriers to ensure timely payment and responsiveness. Uphold high standards of customer satisfaction through reliable, quality service.
- Ensure adherence to customs compliance (CTPAT, OEA), manage safety audits, and deliver transparent reporting (e.g., average wait times, border closures, system outages).
Work Environment
- Office-based with occasional visits to carrier, customer, or government facilities
- Fast-paced, logistics-driven setting requiring constant coordination and communication
- Technology-enabled environment with use of transportation management systems and real-time data tools
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
Experience
- 3+ years in cross-border logistics, carrier procurement, or transportation operations
- At least 1 year of experience in project or operations management preferred
- Strong understanding of U.S. and Mexico customs processes, CTPAT/OEA certification, and safe carrier practices
- Proficient in McLeod, TMS, WMS, YMS, Microsoft Office (especially Excel), and logistics tracking tools
- Familiarity with U.S. and Mexican DOT requirements and border tolling systems
