Job Description

As an Assistant Landscape Architect in our Plano Studio, you will perform specific landscape architecture design tasks on the project team.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides basic landscape architecture design.
  • Performs specific landscape architecture design tasks on the project team, and is expected to use education, intelligence, and common sense to perform tasks and resolve problems.
  • Provides computer-aided design (CAD) drafting. Must have rendering capabilities.
  • Assists in all phases of design and construction administration.
  • Creates presentation materials.
  • Develops schematic designs and/or construction documents; develops cost estimates.
  • Instructs technicians on how to reduce designs into completed drawings.
  • Researches and then writes reports and opinions.
  • May coordinate with clients.
  • May gain field experience by observing landscape architecture projects.
  • Assists more experienced landscape architects as work is subject to supervisor approval.
  • May travel to job sites for observation and to perform field work.
  • Traverses and works in all types of terrain, in all kinds of weather conditions, and at project sites in various stages of construction.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture

  • Advanced math skills and the ability to understand abstract principles behind math and physics.
  • Demonstrates skill with design-based software applications including, but not limited to, CAD, geographic information systems, and graphics programs for laying out projects.
  • Has a valid driver’s license and a good driving history.
