Job Description

The Assistant General Manager at La Plume is a confident, service-driven leader who thrives in a high-energy, fast-paced bistro environment. As a key partner to the General Manager, the AGM helps drive the rhythm of the room — ensuring seamless service, strong floor leadership, and an atmosphere that feels vibrant, polished, and effortlessly welcoming.

This role requires someone who is equally comfortable leading a busy dinner service as they are reviewing financial performance and supporting operational strategy. The AGM plays an active role in team development, recruitment, scheduling, and coaching, while maintaining sharp oversight of labour, inventory, and overall productivity.They lead by example, build strong relationships with guests and team members alike, and create a culture where high standards, accountability, and genuine enjoyment of food, wine, and service come together.

The Day to Day:

  • Support the General Manager in day-to-day operations, including floor management, scheduling, and team leadership
  • Actively lead daily restaurant operations with a strong floor presence during service
  • Inspire and motivate your team by clearly communicating the restaurant’s vision and upholding Oliver & Bonacini’s values
  • Monitor and uphold all points of service and attention to detail in both guest experience and back-of-house operations
  • Support and develop staff through training, coaching, and performance management initiatives
  • Cultivate a warm, professional, guest-first culture
  • Build strong relationships with guests, team members, vendors, and senior leadership
  • Oversee scheduling, payroll accuracy, budgeting, inventory, and invoicing with precision
  • Ensure the venue is spotless, well-maintained, and operating at the highest standard
  • Support marketing efforts and contribute to guest outreach and promotional strategies
  • Actively participate in health & safety initiatives, ensuring full compliance with WHMIS and company policies
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of private events and special functions
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of progressive leadership experience in a premium casual or upscale dining environment
  • Valid Smart Serve Certification
  • Strong understanding of service standards, wine knowledge, and restaurant operations
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire a team with professionalism and positivity
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • A passion for hospitality, attention to detail, and creating memorable guest experiences
  • Flexibility to work late night, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada

Salary Range: From $55,000- $58,000 + gratuities
