Job Description
Purpose of the Job:
Join Ocorian's Group Legal team and play a key role in supporting a global business operating across multiple jurisdictions. As Legal Counsel, you'll work closely with colleagues across the organisation, providing commercially focused legal guidance that supports business growth, enhances client outcomes and strengthens governance across the Group.
This is an opportunity to apply your expertise across a broad range of corporate, commercial, regulatory and financial services matters while partnering with stakeholders on strategic initiatives and cross-border projects. You'll contribute to business decisions, shape legal best practice and help deliver practical solutions that enable the business to achieve its objectives. Main Responsibilities:
- Partner with stakeholders across the business to provide practical, commercially focused legal advice on a broad range of matters.
- Support strategic initiatives, transactions and cross-border projects across multiple jurisdictions.
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements that support business objectives and client outcomes.
- Advise on corporate, commercial, regulatory, data protection and financial services matters across the Group.
- Collaborate with specialist teams to deliver effective and client-focused legal solutions.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of legal frameworks, policies and governance standards.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments and share relevant insights with stakeholders across the business.
- Support the management of legal matters relating to clients, suppliers and Group entities.
- Develop and maintain legal precedents, guidance materials and knowledge resources.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external legal advisers to deliver effective legal support.
- Deliver legal training and knowledge-sharing initiatives that enhance awareness across the organisation.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Qualified Solicitor or Barrister in Mauritius with significant experience in corporate and commercial law.
- Strong knowledge of trust, corporate, commercial, fund and financial services law, with experience advising within a regulated or professional services environment.
- Extensive experience supporting a broad range of legal, corporate and commercial matters across multiple stakeholders and business functions.
- Strong drafting, negotiation and contract review skills, with the ability to provide commercially focused legal guidance.
- In-depth understanding of applicable legislation, regulatory frameworks and industry best practices relevant to financial services.
- Ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, practical and business-focused advice for a variety of audiences.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and jurisdictions.
- Strong commercial awareness, professional judgement and a commitment to continuous learning and legal excellence.
