Job Description
The Business Partner – New Starter and Visas primary role will be responsible for oversight of the onboarding program and managing legal compliance for work authorizations. The Business Partner is responsible for providing administrative support to the People & Culture department while continuously setting an example of our OGC values of care, respect, integrity, performance, and teamwork.
Responsibilities:
- Manage visa and immigration processes by coordinating documentation, monitoring compliance, tracking expiration dates, and working with employees, managers, and external providers to support work authorizations
- Ensure all pre-employment requirements are completed
- Proactively coordinate New Starter Orientation
- Manage, track, and improve the first to 90-day experience of all employees, liaising with People and Culture, department leaders, and new starters
- Communicate regularly and effectively with colleagues to promote a harmonious working environment.
- Be a professional, motivated, and skilled performer.
- Provides consistent guidance and adherence to Haile Gold Mine P&C policies, guidelines, procedures, programs, and philosophies. Communicate these policies, etc., as appropriate.
- Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work — Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
- Complies with all safety requirements and observes all company policies and procedures.
Key Result Areas/Tasks:
- Serve the primary point of contact between employees, people and culture, external immigration attorneys, and foreign governmental authorities
- Periodic internal immigration, E-Verify, and I9 audits
- Oversee all immigration processes to guarantee adherence to federal, state, and international labour regulations
- Develop and update onboarding content
- Ensure all people and culture employees are trained to execute onboarding training
- Coordinate all attendees effectively and efficiently
- Conduct check-ins with new employees in the 1st week, 30 days, 60 days and 90 days
- Liaise with Senior Business Partners on any issues to coach leaders on new employee training and development
- Other tasks as allocated by the P&C Superintendents and Manager

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications / Experience:
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Highschool diploma and administrative experience
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous immigration experience
- Certificate or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
Safety:
- Demonstrate a strong focus on Health, Safety, and the Environment by:

- Actively promoting safety awareness and environmental responsibility amongst company and contract personnel.
- Reporting all personal injuries and incidents and assisting with investigations.

- Ensure open communication is maintained for all HS&E information.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
- Actively participate in the development of site-specific safety Key Performance Indicators, then ensure the KPIs are driven by all members.
Knowledge & Technical Competencies:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

- Ability to speak and teach a large group of people

- Ability to liaise and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization internally and externally
- Proven ability to perform with accuracy and efficiency
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear, and see.
- Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.
- Work is in a surface mine plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.
- Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hart hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and any other protective equipment as required.
