Job Description
The Didipio mine is located on Luzon Island in the Philippines and is the Company’s only asset that produces both gold and copper. Didipio was built by OceanaGold in 2013 and operates fully as underground mine, with over 800 employees that support the mine.
OceanaGold is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and reliable Consultant – Capital Projects (Process Construction) to mentor and develop Filipino OGPI Construction Coordinators in the management of construction activities for assigned projects in the Capital Projects Department, to mentor and monitor contractor construction work groups to ensure compliance with Didipio HSE Policies and Procedures, and to ensure construction activities are completed to scope, specification, on time and within budget. This role is accountable for the safety of all construction activities for assigned projects on-site at Didipio.
The role will report to the Manager - Capital Projects.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Maintain a visible presence in the field whilst on-site by completing minimum of four (4) Critical Control Verifications (CCVs) and/or Task Observations per five (5) days on-site with frontline Filipino Construction Coordinators
- Play an active role in coaching construction work crews and frontline Filipino Construction Coordinators in the pre-shift meeting to ensure that high-risk tasks, hold points and interactions are clearly identified prior to the shift starting
- Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to the Construction team, ensuring clarity of roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations
- Assist the Manager – Capital Projects in identifying resource skills and opportunities within the Construction team and act as the liaison between these resources.
- Ensure construction activities under management are delivered in accordance with design specifications, schedule and budget.
- Participate in design and constructability reviews to ensure that designs are fit for purpose and able to be constructed safely.
- Train frontline Filipino Construction Coordinators to take charge and directly manage project activities for critical tie-ins or plant shutdowns that affect safe production
Qualifications
- Behaviour consistent with OceanaGold Values and the OceanaGold Way
- 10+ years’ experience in project delivery within heavy industry.
- Construction management qualifications
- Advanced user of MS office suite.
- Intermediate user of INX InControl and InTuition.
- Intermediate user of Ecosys software (training will be provided).
- Knowledge of construction methods, processes, sequencing and technical standards.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships in a cross-cultural environment.
- Ability to work autonomously and prioritise work in-line with project requirements.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a cross-cultural environment.
- Ability to think analytically.
- Demonstrate professional conduct.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret engineering drawings.
- Adherence to confidentiality requirements
