Job Description
As we continue to ramp-up production at our Macraes mine, we have created 2 new roles in the Open Pit workshop. The roles are responsible for supervising maintenance teams on dayshift to ensure safe, efficient maintenance is delivered to the open pit mining operations fleet. Critical to the role is the planning of daily workloads to ensure timely execution of planned maintenance, backlog and defect repairs along with accurate recording and reporting of materials and resources in the computerised maintenance management system (Pronto). The position is expected to be around 25% hands-on with a high degree of professionalism and quality workmanship required to ensure cost effective maintenance and repairs are delivered.
Key responsibilities
- Supervision of respective maintenance field teams (including contractors) for all maintenance activities for the assigned on-shift roster;
- Manage the performance of maintenance field crews during the execution of maintenance to ensure all work is carried out safely and that it is preformed to acceptable standards;
- Utilising contractors as a source of top up and specialist labour, ensuring all contractors are compliant with the Contractor Management Policy;
- Liaise with stores regarding spares & parts holdings relating to mechanical maintenance requirements and schedules, this also includes major shutdown repairs and backlog repairs;
- Provide input to improvements in maintenance planning workflow & directly assist with the formulation of written plans for major overhaul projects;
- Assist the Senior Supervisor with performance assessments, with input to objectives and training plans to enable staff to be developed in their respective roles;
- Attending and repairing breakdowns of the mining fleet and ancillary plant;
- General repairs and maintenance on all mining, ancillary and support plant;
- Replacement of ground engaging tooling (G.E.T);
- Basic repairs to electrical systems on the mining fleet and ancillary plant.
- Provide leadership and coaching to establish a strong culture of continuous improvement.
- Coach, support and develop the team to build knowledge and skills to provide coverage and to build succession plans.
Qualifications
- National Certificate in Automotive Heavy Engineering - Plant and Equipment Level 4 / 5 or equivalent.
- Full and Current Driver Licence, ability to drive manual vehicles preferred.
- Preferred but not essential are; certificates in: first aid; forklift; overhead gantry and non-slewing crane; rigging and slinging and work at height, ICAM investigator and mining S1, S2, S3.
- Proficiency in using Pronto or a similar computerised maintenance management system
- Proven supervisory and leadership skills with a minimum 2 years’ experience as a supervisor working in a heavy industry environment
- 5 years’ experience post qualification in the repairs, maintenance and field service of heavy machinery, including large mining excavators, trucks, drills, graders, dozers and ancillary equipment.
