Job Description

North Queen’s Community Health Centre in Caledonia is seeking a physician to join their family practice. The new physician will provide family practice care to the community of Caledonia while working in collaboration with two nurse practitioners (1 full and 1 half time), and a family practice nurse. In addition, weekly lab services, diabetes education, continuing care and foot clinic are available. The North Queen’s Community Health Centre is run by a community board, which is pivotal in the community providing fantastic community support for providers and the Health Centre.

Responsibilities

  • Examine patients and take their histories, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures;
  • Advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention
  • Consultation and referral to other medical practitioners
  • Act as a patient’s advocate
  • Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinations
  • Report births, deaths, contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirements
