Job Description
Responsible for the day-to-day inspection and monitoring of wet and dry utility construction activities undertaken by subcontractors, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications, quality requirements, applicable codes, and Abu Dhabi authority standards and inspection procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect utility installation works and monitor subcontractor activities on site.
- Verify installations against approved IFC/shop drawings, specifications, method statements, and ITPs.
- Inspect excavation, trench preparation, bedding, pipe installation, jointing, backfilling, chambers, manholes, ducts, and associated utility works.
- Inspect both wet and dry utility installations, including water, sewerage, stormwater, irrigation, electrical, telecommunications, and associated networks.
- Coordinate inspection requests with the Consultant and follow up on inspections, comments, and approvals.
- Witness required testing, including pressure, leakage, CCTV, compaction, duct proving, continuity, and other applicable tests.
- Monitor workmanship and identify defects, deviations, and non-compliant works.
- Raise and follow up on site observations, quality issues, and NCR-related corrective actions.
- Ensure proper sequencing and coordination between utility works and other disciplines.
- Verify utility levels, alignment, clearances, and interfaces against approved drawings and requirements.
- Ensure works comply with applicable Abu Dhabi codes, standards, specifications, and authority requirements.
- Support inspections and approvals by relevant Abu Dhabi authorities and utility service providers, as applicable.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, checklists, photographs, test reports, and relevant site documentation.
- Support utility testing, commissioning, snagging, as-built verification, and handover activities.
- Provide timely feedback to the Utilities Engineer/Package Manager regarding site issues, progress, and quality concerns.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering,
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in infrastructure and utility construction inspection/supervision.
- Practical experience in inspecting wet and dry utility installations and associated infrastructure works.
- Good knowledge of UAE and Abu Dhabi codes, standards, specifications, and authority requirements applicable to utility construction.
- Familiarity with Abu Dhabi authority inspection, NOC, testing, approval, and handover requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret IFC drawings, shop drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, and approved authority drawings.
- Good understanding of utility construction methods, including excavation, bedding, pipe laying, jointing, backfilling, compaction, chambers/manholes, ducting, and testing.
- Experience coordinating inspections with Consultants, Contractors, Subcontractors, and relevant authorities/utility providers.
- Knowledge of construction quality control procedures, inspection requests, checklists, testing requirements, and NCR/observation processes.
- Strong site inspection, reporting, coordination, and communication skills.
