Job Description

The Resource Coordinator reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Resource Coordinator alternates between the functions of a Staffing Coordinator and a Health Unit Coordinator:

As a Staffing Coordinator, responsible for coordinating and managing various staffing needs of the PCS inpatient nursing units by facilitating appropriate staffing in advance and on a daily basis. Prepares reports for tracking and trending utilization of resources to ensure maximum efficacy and efficiency. Performs all other duties as needed or directed by the Manager of the Resource Team to meet the needs of the department

As a Health Unit Coordinator, performs unit-based reception, clerical, medical record and patient registration functions. Is capable of setting priorities and handling emergency situations in a calm manner. Is customer oriented and able to communicate with all levels of staff and patients and their families. Serves as liaison between patient care units and all other patient related departments. Manages the overall unit workflow in concert with the charge RN and/or assistant manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Presents a friendly, approachable, professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Provides accurate information and timely updates to patients and customers. Addresses questions and concerns promptly, or identifies appropriate person and resources to do so. Provides directions or help to patients and customers with finding their way.
  • Uses effective service recovery skills to solve problems or service breakdowns when they occur.
  • Demonstrates teamwork by helping co-workers within and across departments. Communicates effectively with others, respects diverse opinions and styles, acknowledges the assistance and contributions of others.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of standard office equipment and computer office software.

Staffing Coordinator:

  • Evaluates and determines daily staffing unit needs in collaboration with the Unit Assistant Nurse Manager, Unit Charge Nurse, and/or the Resource Team Manager. Reports to nursing leadership when staffing needs are critical.
  • Assigns resource staff and other staffing resources as staffing needs dictate based on census/acuity and unscheduled absences in collaboration with the Unit Manager, Unit Charge Nurse, and/or Resource Team Manager.
  • Monitors future staffing needs and coordinates with resource team to facilitate response to variable demands.
  • Maintains daily staffing worksheets, logs and tracking documents as required.
  • Performs an active role in disaster plan.

Health Unit Coordinator:

  • Prepares medical records for new admissions and disassembles the chart and forwards to Medical Records upon patient discharge.
  • Maintains proper record assembly contents in chronological order behind tabs. Prints all forms used for patients charts and scans necessary documents into patient charts.
  • Answers telephone, monitors unit closed circuit camera, and intercom/door entry system in a polite manner and communicates information to the appropriate staff/family.
  • Performs pre-census and validates daily admission, discharge and census lists.
  • Observes patient confidentiality rules and Release of Information data
  • Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient's needs. Pages Physician as requested by RN.
  • Manages supplies and inventory as requested by unit.

Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • ARDMS in Abdomen and OB/Gyn
  • At least 4 years sonographer experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbal and in writing.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Competent in computer office software.
  • Competent in use of office equipment.
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational skills and adaptability. Skilled in conflict management and resolution.
  • Previous administrative assistant or staffing coordinator experience.

Preferred:

  • Associates Degree
