Job Description

The Productivity engineering team is passionate about building solutions that enhance and strengthen Nine Engineering’s product development and delivery capabilities. We combine software and tools to help support our fellow engineers to increase their development efficiency and performance.

As a Software Engineer working across the broader Engineering team, you will build high quality, scalable solutions, and share your best practice software design and development skills with engineers to maximize their impact. 

Our tech stack includes Golang, Python, Node.js, Kubernetes, Concourse, and Open Telemetry. As a team we’re tech agnostic, guided by the best technology solution for the situation. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with the engineering team to understand opportunities to increase productivity and performance. 

  • Design, develop and implement solutions including new tools to improve reporting, automating a development process, or implementing a whole new platform.

  • Collaborating with Product Platforms, Platform Engineering, Architecture, Security, and others to support their work designing, developing, and launching new products and services.

  • Be a technical go-to person for team members interested in increasing productivity

Qualifications

Essential experience & skills

  • Previous experience as a backend or DevOps engineer  building developer tools and APIs

  • An interest in automation and infrastructure-as-code

  • Experience in backend frameworks such as : Golang, Python, Node.js, 

  • Experience in Kubernetes (k8s), CICD pipelines (Concourse, TeamCity, Jenkins, CircleCI, Travis, CI) and Open Telemetry

  • Experience in metrics tooling (prometheus), logging tools (kibana), tracing tools (Jaeger, Honeycomb.io)

  • Experience in Cloud Computing Platforms (AWS, Google Cloud Compute)

  • Experience building APIs and command line tools
