Job Description
Job Summary
The Payroll Finance Analyst supports a centralized Payroll Center of Excellence (COE) by executing payroll-related finance and payment activities in a global, multi-entity environment. The role focuses on post-payroll processing, payroll-to-GL support, bank file uploads, reconciliations, and month-end close activities under established controls and procedures.
Working closely with Payroll, Treasury (Payment Factory), Controllership, FP&A, and global payroll vendors, the analyst helps ensure accurate payroll cost reporting, timely payroll funding, and compliance with internal policies and control requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Post-Payroll & Payment Support
- Support post-payroll activities including reconciliations, accrual preparation, and journal entry support.
- Assist with preparation, review, and upload of payroll bank files in coordination with Treasury payment factory processes.
- Validate payroll outputs and funding readiness to support timely salary and statutory payments.
General Ledger & Reconciliations
- Prepare and support reconciliation of payroll-related GL accounts, including wages, benefits, taxes, accruals, and clearing accounts.
- Assist in identifying and resolving reconciling items and posting variances with guidance from senior team members.
- Support efforts to reduce manual reclassifications through accurate processing and issue tracking.
Bank & Funding Activities
- Support payroll bank account reconciliations and basic bank file governance activities.
- Track payment confirmations, rejections, and failures and escalate issues as needed.
- Coordinate with Treasury and payroll vendors to support on-time payroll funding across global banking platforms.
Vendor & Stakeholder Support
- Support review of payroll vendor and benefit provider invoices for accuracy.
- Assist in resolving routine vendor queries related to payments, billing, or reporting.
- Provide data and support to FP&A for payroll-related cost analysis and budget reviews.
Controls, Compliance & Documentation
- Perform payroll finance activities in accordance with SOX controls, Global Payroll Policy, and the Payroll & HR Control Framework.
- Support documentation and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Assist with audit requests by providing reconciliations, reports, and supporting documentation.
Success Measures
- Timely and accurate support of payroll funding and bank file uploads
- On-time completion of assigned month-end close tasks and reconciliations
- Reduction in reconciling items and rework over time
- Compliance with payroll finance controls and audit requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in accounting, payroll finance, Treasury operations, or financial operations.
- Basic experience or exposure to payroll bank file uploads or payment processing in a controlled environment.
- Understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
- Experience using ERP or payroll systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to global or multi-country payroll environments.
- Familiarity with payment formats or banking concepts (e.g., ACH, SEPA, local clearing).
- Experience working with payroll vendors or shared service environments.
