Senior Software Engineer ( Data Engineer - Python )
- Full-time
Job Description
Senior Software Engineer ( Data Engineer - Python ) , Chennai/Pune INDIA
You are a passionate software engineer who knows the ins and outs of software engineering and how it fits the broader software development lifecycle. Modeling the world, thinking in terms of design patterns, object-oriented design, functional programming, and test-driven development is your second nature. You have written several applications from scratch, and many are still in production to the delight of their users. You enjoy working in a team of like-minded professionals and are keen to provide feedback on other's code as well as act on feedback received on yours. You are used to working in agile teams delivering small, incremental improvements through continuous delivery pipelines. You are proud of the quality, security, and robustness of the code you write, and because you write your code with an in-depth understanding of the execution environment these qualities translate to the systems you implement as well.
Responsibilities:
- Provide solutions to problems across your functional areas, by demonstrating an ability to assess and improve existing software by applying all well-known Engineering Principles.
- Help to create high-quality ML (Machine Learning) and DS (Data Science) pipelines that are scalable, testable, and maintainable.
- Ensure codebases owned by your team meet best practices and high standards.
- Help to make tactical decisions on how to tackle existing tech debt as well as advising on sensible plans and timelines when it needs to be accrued.
- Have an appreciation of the benefits of TDD (Test Driven Development).
- Help your squad leadership in working collaboratively with Product, Data Scientists, and Machine Learning Engineers to design, prioritize, and implement solutions that deliver value to customers.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in engineering software.
- Extensive expertise in Python.
- Experience with SQL (Postgres).
- Experience working in Kubernetes-based or serverless-based environments.
- Plenty of experience in building backend services and/or data pipelines, so you know the caveats and (anti-)patterns.
- Worked with distributed, data-heavy applications running in the cloud (GCP, Azure, AWS, etc).
- An open and collaborative mindset both within and outside your team.
- You are a self-starter, and you understand why we are building things and bring suggestions and ideas on how to solve problems in the best way.
- Advanced understanding of CI/CD pipelines.
- Expertise using git or similar version control systems.
It would be a nice addition if you have:
- You have exposure of interest in the Data side of things, like data pipelines (ETLs, etc), databases, data lakes, warehouses, and the like.
- Experience/interest in working in an environment with Data Science and Machine Learning models and pipelines.
Additional Information
- An exciting work environment that brings people together.
- Use the latest digital technologies.
- Ongoing trainings to support your development.

- Flexible working hours (hybrid model).
