Job Description
If you are a Tax Accounting and Compliance professional looking for an opportunity to grow, NielsenIQ has an exciting opportunity for you. A Hybrid-remote role based out of our Chicago, Illinois location, you will interact with all aspects of accounting for income taxes and tax compliance. Team members gain exposure across multiple disciplines of the Corporate Tax function with opportunities to work with the tax accounting and tax planning teams. This position is primarily responsible for oversight and review of the federal income tax lifecycle, including tax provision, review of the federal and state income tax returns, tax cash flow forecasting, and participating in on-going tax technology enhancements and process improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Manage complete federal and state income tax lifecycle, including ASC740 income tax accruals, coordination of third party co-sourcing engagement, and estimated tax payments.
- Lead and facilitate information gathering required by external auditors.
- Assist with analysis and reporting of uncertain tax positions.
- Coordinate with Accounting, Treasury, Legal, and FP&A to gather information to prepare tax provision, federal and state income tax returns, and tax forecasting analysis.
- Ensure compliance with all Sarbanes Oxley requirements including documentation of internal control procedures and interactions with corporate audit staff.
- Analyze accounting methods and practices and procedures to ensure compliance with changes in tax laws and regulations.
- Coordinate the preparation of the federal and state research and development tax credit.
- Gather and review due diligence reports, tax returns, and other information to determine the tax accounting implications for acquisitions.
- Assist with the assimilation of acquired companies into accounting methods utilized by NIQ and inclusion in the federal and state income tax returns.
- Review, pay, and timely file all federal and state estimated payments and extensions.
- Assist finance personnel with tax related issues and educate individuals in ASC 740, OneSource Tax Provision, and internal control procedures for tax.
- Identify and implement automation, efficiency, and improvement projects for the tax accounting and compliance function.
- Supervise state indirect tax compliance team and co-sourcing partners.
- Research and document analysis of ad hoc tax issues to support management inquires, estimate impact of proposed/enacted tax legislation, etc., as requested.
Position Deliverables—Year 1
- Timely prepare, file, and pay all federal and state income tax returns.
- Assist with meeting all quarterly and year-end tax accounting requirements.
- Identify and implement efficient process improvements in the tax accounting and compliance function.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships with accounting, treasury, and finance groups.
Requirements
- 8+ years overall tax experience with a strong emphasis on U.S. federal and state tax accounting and compliance issues for a large publicly traded company.
- Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting or Finance required, MST Preferred
- Certified Public Accountant preferred.
- Broad knowledge of ASC 740 and US federal and state corporate tax laws.
- Track record of being a team player with strong communication skills with ability to interact successfully with a wide range of collaborators, from local company finance staff to senior management, including strong organizational skills for multi-tasking.
- Experience with OneSource Tax Provision, Hyperion Financial Management, or SAP preferred.
- Experience with PowerBI, Alteryx, and similar automation tools preferred.
