Reporting to the Head of People & Culture/COO, the Training & Development Lead is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing all technical and compliance training across Newhaul’s Roads, Port, and Workshop divisions.
This role ensures all employees are trained to the Newhaul Standard of safety, compliance, and performance.
In this newly created role, you will be leading and supporting the Driver Trainer network — experienced drivers who act as on-road mentors and assessors for new starters and participants in the Upskill Program. The role ensures these trainers are effectively deployed, competent to deliver on-road coaching, and equipped with the resources and frameworks needed to produce consistent outcomes.

Qualifications
What Success Looks Like
- Clear structure and governance for the Driver Trainer program
- All drivers, mechanics, and port operators are trained and competent in required tasks
- Upskill and Kickstart programs are relaunched and delivering qualified operators
- Improved compliance outcomes and audit readiness
- Consistent delivery and evaluation of training across all sites
- High engagement and retention among Driver Trainers and trainees
Skills, Experience, and Attributes
- Minimum 7+ years in technical training or operational capability roles within transport, logistics, or mining.
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40122) or equivalent
- Strong understanding of NHVAS, CoR, and heavy-vehicle compliance frameworks
- Experience designing and managing on-road training programs and coaching models
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop field-based trainers
- Familiarity with LMS platforms (e.g. Litmos) and training record management
- Excellent communication, planning, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to balance hands-on support with strategic oversight
