Job Description

*THIS IS A 12 HOUR ROTATING DAY SHIFT POSITION- 6AM - 6PM*

Position Purpose: The Maintenance Technician - Automation is responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and repairs on various types of assembly, subassembly, printing, and/or packaging machines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and report any unsafe working conditions
  • Read, use, and interpret measuring devices, gauges and inspection tools
  • Perform all required necessary preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment
  • Check and maintain quality of product being produced by identifying acceptable and non-acceptable product in accordance with Quality policies and procedures
  • Actively participate on teams and offer suggestions for improvement
  • Answer machine alarms as they occur and identify and address the root cause.
  • Follow all 5S guidelines
  • Perform and document inspections per cGMP for work instruction sheet, on device history sheet records, and work instruction sheet tables
  • Follow all Lock Out/Tag Out rules
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot any pneumatic, mechanical, or electrical malfunction on a variety of machines
  • Adjusts assembly machine units for major/minor lot production operations following department specification
  • Repair and maintain electrical controls on equipment (assembly and packaging machines), including servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines and devices primarily on the basis of electronic principles
  • Assist with uploading programs to controls in the events of program loss or CPU replacement
  • Repair robot arms and controls, including replacing bad boards, motors, encoders, etc.
  • Conduct TPM activities as required
  • Input Maintenance work orders into the Computerized Maintenance Management Software (SAP)
  • Monitor processes, show an awareness of issues and demonstrate corrective actions to address those issues
  • Perform weekly, monthly, and as required preventive maintenance (PM)
  • Perform root cause analysis for safety, quality, and processing issues
  • Suggest ways to improve the efficiency and safety of our work and environment
  • Comply with all company policies
  • Troubleshoots and locates the source of the problem by observing the operation of the equipment.
  • Brainstorms with other maintenance personnel, and outside technical support as needed.
  • Restores damaged or malfunctioning equipment to operation by repairing, replacing and or adjusting electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Controls down time by scheduling repairs with the Maintenance Leader
  • Maintains good communications with Maintenance Leader
  • Maintains ongoing list of CMMS work orders with timeline to be addressed and completed.
  • Assists other maintenance personnel as needed,
  • Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Ensures the work is completed with technical excellence, and in an efficient and cost-effective fashion.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Must have 3 or more years of experience in a technical, hands-on position
  • Experience with complex assembly automation required
  • Experience in electrical, pneumatics, and hydraulics
  • Knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 40lbs with repetitive movements
  • Ability to push and pull items and climb up and down ladders
  • Ability to stand and/or walk up to constantly during the shift

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications required and SAP experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently from verbal and/or written instructions required
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts
  • Must be mechanically inclined and can use basic hand tools
  • Must have strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Works in a clean manufacturing environment that may include moderate noise levels and required appropriate PPE and cleanroom apparel
