Job Description

The General Manager performs the following duties and responsibilities:

  1. operational leadership and management of the office in Almaty, including coordination of all processes related to student recruitment, admission events, and applicant support;

  2. plans, implements and coordinates the implementation of recruitment activities in the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as in foreign countries in order to attract applicants/candidates, as well as Fee-based applicants, to Foundation, Undergraduate, Zero Year of Master`s Programs, Master’s and PhD programs of the University (hereinafter – academic programs of the University);

  3. as assigned by the University Management, organizes work, sets goals and tasks for employees of structural units based in the Almaty office in coordination with the Heads of those units, and oversees the quality and timeliness of task execution;

  4. develops recommendations to increase the number of fee-paying applicants and promote the University's academic programs in domestic and international markets;

  5. collaborates with structural divisions and Schools of the University, central and local executive bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan, foreign partners, educational organizations, specialized organizations and other bodies for the implementation of recruitment activities;

  6. coordinates interactions with external agents providing services to attract applicants from the Republic of Kazakhstan and/or international applicants for enrollment on a fee-paying basis;

  7. organizes the participation of the Division in Kazakhstani, international educational exhibitions and promotes the University and its academic programs to potential applicants/candidates and other interested parties;

  8. participates in the development  of recruitment plans and activities of the University Schools and monitors their implementation to ensure the achievement of the University’s strategic goals as needed;

  9. participates in the development of plans for reviewing partial grants for local and international applicants;

  10. prepares regular reports on the results of recruitment activities, analyzes data, and suggests new approaches to improve the efficiency of the Division's operations;

  11. submits proposals for updating relevant sections of the University's official website related to recruitment events and activities; 

  12. develops proposals to the Head of the Division to improve the efficiency of applicant recruitment processes and optimize the University's overall business processes.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Higher professional education, preferable from a higher educational institution with English language of instruction;
  • A Master’s degree is preferable.

Work experience:

  • Minimum five years in the relevant field;
  • Minimum three years with a Master’s degree in the relevant area.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of education;
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in English, Kazakh and Russian;
  • High level of knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Skills:

  • Problem-solving skills with professional judgment;
  • Analytical skills: to use insights from multiple sources to recommend policy changes;
  • Ability to refine policies for a function or area of work; 
  • Skills to prepare reports, analytical notes of the Division;
  • Ability to work with representatives of different cultures and nationalities;
  • Communication skills;
  • Presentation skills.
