Job Description

We are seeking dedicated sessional educators with a passion for teaching undergraduate psychology to teach on-campus and online classes.

Sessional educators typically teach across our full suite of undergraduate core psychology units at 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year level. Sessional educators also take tutorial classes in psychology electives and multidisciplinary units. On campus classes are generally held during business hours. Online classes are held across the day, including the late afternoon and evening. Online classes are delivered via Zoom from within the Moodle online platform.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Teaching undergraduate psychology units on campus and online, and marking assessments connected to these units 
  • Being available for briefings and general communication on the ACAP Teams platform
  • Responding to student enquiries in person, via email, or via our LMS (Moodle) 
  • Participating in formal professional development activities to improve your teaching practice.


Location is flexible. The successful applicant would be based at one of our campuses: Brisbane or Adelaide. 

Qualifications

It is essential for the ideal candidate to meet the following selection criteria: 

  • An Honours degree in psychology
  • Access to IT facilities appropriate for effective use of ACAP’s online teaching and admin facilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work and build relationships with the diverse ACAP student community.

 

Desirable criteria:

  • Experience in teaching undergraduate psychology in both on campus and online settings.  
  • Current enrolment in or completion of a post-4th year qualification in psychology, such as a coursework or research master’s or doctorate
  • Flexibility in being able to teach any unit within the undergraduate sequence
