Job Description
Overview
An exciting opportunity exists for a strategic and commercially minded Marketing Director to lead the marketing function for Charles Sturt University - Sydney and Melbourne campuses.
Reporting to the General Manager of Marketing, this role is responsible for shaping and executing integrated marketing strategies that drive brand growth, student recruitment, and revenue outcomes. You will lead a high-performing marketing team, oversee campaign and digital delivery, and partner closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure activity aligns with Charles Sturt University brand standards, policies, and commercial objectives.
This is a leadership role for someone who thrives in a multi-site, matrix environment and is passionate about delivering measurable impact in the higher education sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of marketing strategy and operational plans to support enrolments, growth and revenue targets.
- Manage and mentor the marketing team, ensuring clear priorities, delivery milestones and strong performance outcomes.
- Oversee integrated campaign delivery across digital, media, content and production channels to drive enquiry and conversion.
- Strengthen brand profile and market awareness through targeted, data-led initiatives aligned with Charles Sturt University brand guidelines.
- Drive continuous optimisation of acquisition activity, including digital performance, social content and lead funnel effectiveness.
- Lead the production of marketing collateral and communications, ensuring quality, compliance and brand consistency.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships across Charles Sturt University, Navitas and global marketing teams to enable aligned planning and delivery.
- Identify new market opportunities, promotional avenues and product growth potential through market intelligence and competitor insights.
- Deliver robust reporting and analytics to evaluate ROI, inform decisions and shape future marketing plans.
- Manage budgets, agency relationships, media planning and contractor engagement to maximise impact and efficiency.

Qualifications
- Degree in Marketing, Business Management or a related discipline.
- Extensive marketing experience, including senior leadership responsibility and accountability for strategy, campaigns and performance outcomes.
- Proven experience leading and developing a marketing team, with at least 5 years’ people leadership responsibility.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing integrated marketing and branding strategies that deliver measurable growth.
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to balance academic and business priorities.
- Experience working in complex, multi-site or matrix environments.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation and communication skills.
- High level analytical capability with the ability to translate data and insights into clear strategic direction.
- Demonstrated resilience in dynamic environments, with the ability to navigate shifting priorities, lead through change, and maintain positive team momentum.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to guide teams forward with clarity, adaptability and confidence.
- Experience within the higher education or education sector highly regarded.
Desirable
- Experience in international student recruitment and/or global education marketing.
- Familiarity with Salesforce, Marketo, or similar CRM/marketing platforms.
- Experience working across multi-brand or matrixed organisational environments.
