Aurinia is a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing therapies in disease areas of high unmet medical need. We are currently developing voclosporin, an investigational drug, for the treatment of lupus nephritis (LN) and focal segmental glomerularsclerosis (FSGS). Additionally, we are advancing voclosporin ophthalmic solution (VOS), a topical formulation, for the treatment of dry eye syndrome (DES).

Job Description

As a member of the financial department team, the Senior Accountant is responsible for revenue recognition, accounts receivable and for analyzing balance sheet accounts, as well as facilitating the monthly close by preparing payroll, upload and necessary adjusting entries. The Senior Accountant will partner with the members of the accounting and finance departments to provide key accounting and reporting on areas and offer development opportunities that can lead to advanced roles within the accounting organization or other departments.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Prepare the US financial statements and supporting schedules according to monthly close schedule 
• Facilitate and complete monthly close procedures 
• Analyze revenues, commissions and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately on a monthly basis 
• Prepare monthly account reconciliations 
• Assist with analyzing financial statements on a monthly basis and report on variances 
• Assist with quarterly and yearly financial and tax audits 
• Assist with preparing tax returns and corporate reporting requirements 
• Assist with quarterly producer commission reports, analyzing and correcting the discrepancies 
• Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls 
• Assist with AP and payroll functions 
• Assist US Treasury functions 
• Mentors and works closely with all members of the team to ensure accurate financial reporting 
• Formulates and provides guidance with regard to accounting policies
 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance 
• Strong understanding of accounting theory 
• CPA designation preferred 
• 5+ years accounting/finance experience; CPA a plus 
• Pharma/Biotech experience is preferred 
• Experience in the insurance industry preferred 
• Knowledge of New Suite and Concur is preferred 
• Team player and positive work ethic
• Experience in AP and Payroll is preferred but not required 
• Highly detail oriented and organized in work 
• Ability to meet assigned deadlines 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
• Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives 
• Proficiency with email and Microsoft Office applications 
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results
