Job Description
The Bath & NE Somerset, Swindon & Wiltshire Diabetic Eye Screening Programme (BSW DESP) provides retinal screening clinics and image grading to people with diabetes.. We are commissioned by NHS England & Improvement to provide retinal screening on behalf of the NHS and our service is compliant with the National Service Framework (NSF) and National Screening Committee (NSC) guidance, standards, and objectives.

Our screeners are the heart of NEC Care spending time on the ground, helping our service users. As a screener, you'll run local clinics to photograph service users' eyes to assess for diabetic retinopathy. We'll need you to be empathetic and able to talk to people of all backgrounds. You'll be supported undertaking on-the-job training alongside a Health Screening Diploma, but once competent you will be working largely unsupervised in a busy environment, so a cool head is essential!
You will need a broad set of skills, including being confident with IT, but attention to detail, a methodical approach, flexibility and self-sufficiency are really important.

- Customer focused with brilliant interpersonal skills
- Willingness to learn - we'll put you through the necessary screening qualification
- Organised and able to prioritise tasks
- Good problem-solving skills
- Able to work under pressure and without supervision
- Any previous experience working with the public is ideal
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs including grades A-C in English, Maths, and a Science subject or equivalent
- A full driving licence and your own transport

Candidates must be able to demonstrate a pre-existing right to work and travel within the UK. Documentary evidence will be required.
All offers are subject to satisfactory vetting and reference checks.
We will consider full or part time applicants working Monday to Friday (occasional Saturday) 8.15am to 4.15pm daily.
