Job Description

As a Senior CloudOps Engineer, you will be solving problems and partnering with our clients to help them build and modernise their applications, develop good practices and get the most out of their technology landscape. This role is BAU focused and ideal for someone who thrives in complex cloud environments, has deep AWS expertise, and can operate as a technical escalation point for delivery and operations teams.

In this role, you will act as a Level 3 escalation point for AWS infrastructure, platform, and application-related issues.  You will Design, implement, and support highly available, scalable, and secure AWS solutions and manage and optimise AWS environments for clients operating within Microsoft-centric ecosystems (e.g., Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure integrations). Additionally, the role requires providing performance, security, and cost optimization recommendations for cloud services, enabling greater process efficiencies and improvements, as well as capability enhancements. You should be able to contribute to project-based delivery work, including building and deploying new cloud solutions.

On a day-to-day basis, you'll lead incident response, problem management, and root cause analysis for critical issues, be hands-on in developing code, shaping requirements, designing and deploying solutions, and setting up good engineering and quality practices. Drive automation and infrastructure-as-code using tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform. You will also be involved in Ops and afterhours production support (24*7) roster-based on call. Most of all, you'll have strong consulting skills, curiosity and a desire to add value.

Qualifications

Technical Expertise:

  • Strong experience in AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, Lambda, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts (VPNs, Direct Connect, DNS, hybrid architectures)
  • Experience supporting Windows and/or Linux workloads in AWS
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Python, Bash)
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring and logging tools (CloudWatch, Splunk, LogicMonitor, etc.)
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform or CloudFormation)
  • Strong grasp of cloud security best practices and compliance frameworks

Operational & Support Experience:

  • Proven experience in managed services or enterprise support environments
  • Strong background in Level 3 support / escalation handling
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve high-pressure production issues
  • Experience with ITIL practices (certification highly regarded

Consulting & Stakeholder Skills:

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to translate technical issues into business-relevant insights
  • Strong collaboration skills across engineering, operations, and client teams
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and automation

Desirable:

  • Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., PSPF or similar frameworks)
  • Exposure to Azure integrations within AWS ecosystems
