Job Description
We are looking for a hands-on Robotics Technical Support Specialist to support the deployment and operation of humanoid robots for events, demonstrations and customer experiences.
The role is responsible for the technical setup, basic configuration, testing, maintenance and operational readiness of humanoid robots before and during events. You will work closely with the Event Manager and robotics/engineering teams to ensure that the robot is safely configured, tested and ready for live operation.
The role will also support the creation and maintenance of technical and operational documentation, including robot operation manuals, setup procedures, troubleshooting guides, safety procedures and risk assessments.
This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys working with emerging robotics technology and is comfortable learning new tools and robot capabilities in a fast-moving environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Humanoid Robot Setup & Deployment
- Perform physical setup and preparation of humanoid robots for events and demonstrations.
- Check robot condition, battery, charging equipment, accessories and supporting equipment before deployment.
- Set up robot operating areas, controllers, networking and other required peripherals.
- Perform pre-event technical checks and readiness verification.
- Support robot transportation, setup, teardown and packing after events.
- Maintain proper equipment inventory and deployment checklists.
2. Robot Configuration & Testing
- Perform basic robot configuration using approved software, tools and procedures.
- Configure robot settings, operating parameters and event-specific requirements.
- Conduct functional checks on robot movement, sensors, communication, audio, display and other supported functions.
- Perform pre-event testing and rehearsals to ensure reliable operation.
- Identify technical issues and perform first-level troubleshooting.
- Escalate hardware, software or robotics issues to the engineering team when required.
3. Humanoid Dance & Motion Content
- Configure and prepare new humanoid dance routines using the provided tools.
- Download and deploy new dance/motion content from the designated server or content platform.
- Verify downloaded content and perform testing before live deployment.
- Maintain a library of approved dance routines and versions.
- Support rehearsal and fine-tuning of robot performances for different event environments.
- Ensure only approved and tested motion content is used during live events.
4. Event Technical Support
- Provide on-site technical support during robotics events and demonstrations.
- Operate and monitor the humanoid robot according to approved procedures.
- Perform pre-show technical checks and standby support during live performances.
- Respond to basic technical issues and recover the robot using established procedures.
- Coordinate closely with the Event Manager on show timing, technical readiness and operational constraints.
- Support technical setup at venues including connectivity, power, charging and robot operating areas.
- Maintain technical readiness throughout the event.
5. Safety & Risk Management
- Follow established humanoid robot safety procedures and operating guidelines.
- Conduct and document pre-event safety and readiness checks.
- Support preparation of event-specific safety and risk assessments.
- Ensure appropriate robot operating boundaries, emergency procedures and safety controls are implemented.
- Maintain awareness of risks associated with human-robot interaction, robot movement and public events.
- Immediately report safety or operational issues to the Event Manager.
6. Technical Documentation
- Develop and maintain technical documentation to support event operations.
- Prepare and update:
- Robot Operation Manuals
- Setup & Teardown Guides
- Pre-Event Readiness Checklists
- Basic Troubleshooting Guides
- Safety & Risk Assessments
- Robot Operating Procedures
- Dance/Motion Deployment Procedures
- Equipment Checklists
- Event Technical Runbooks
- Maintain document versions and ensure the latest approved procedures are available to the event team.
- Capture lessons learned from events and update procedures accordingly.
7. Maintenance & Asset Management
- Perform basic preventive maintenance and routine checks on humanoid robots and supporting equipment.
- Maintain batteries, chargers, controllers, cables and other robot accessories in good operating condition.
- Record equipment condition, faults and maintenance activities.
- Maintain an inventory of technical equipment and spare parts.
- Coordinate with suppliers or engineering teams for repairs and higher-level maintenance.
8. Continuous Improvement
- Identify recurring technical issues and recommend improvements to setup, operation and maintenance procedures.
- Improve event deployment checklists and troubleshooting processes.
- Develop standardised robot setup and operating procedures to enable faster deployment.
- Learn and adopt new robot capabilities, software tools and operating methods as the technology evolves.
- Support the Event Manager and engineering team in improving the overall robotics event operating model.
Qualifications
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a hands-on, technically curious and reliable individual who enjoys working with robotics and emerging technology.
Required
- Diploma in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, IT, Computer Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Experience in technical support, robotics, automation, equipment operations, AV/technology support or a related field.
- Comfortable working with hardware, software and technical equipment.
- Able to follow technical procedures and checklists accurately.
- Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good documentation and communication skills.
- Willing to work on-site, including evenings, weekends and public events when required.
- Willingness to learn new robotics platforms and software tools.
Key Competencies
- Hands-on technical ability — comfortable setting up, testing and working directly with robots.
- Troubleshooting mindset — able to diagnose basic problems systematically and escalate effectively.

Good to Have
- Basic understanding of robotics, networking, sensors, actuators or embedded systems.
- Basic scripting or programming knowledge.
- Experience with event technical support or live technology demonstrations.
- Experience preparing safety documentation, risk assessments or technical operating procedures.
The role provides an opportunity to work directly with emerging humanoid robotics and contribute to building the technical operating foundation for a new robotics experience business.
This is a contract role. 6 months contract, 3 days/week (including weekends).
