Job Description

NCBA CLUSA is currently seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Financial Planning Volunteer to support Asociación Agropecuaria Caficultora de la Sierra Lenca de Morazán (ACALEM) based in Morazán, El Salvador. This cooperative, established in 2011, generates the largest portion of its income through the sales of parchment coffee.  However, they recognize that they lack quality control standards and a robust operational cost structure.  This volunteer assignment is designed to strengthen the financial skills of the board of directors and the manager to successfully achieve their immediate goals; successfully operating a quality control lab, wet milling facilities, processing raw coffee of all members, etc. It is expected that the volunteer helps ACALEM to conduct a cost analysis of their production to determine profitable price points. Additional training to the board of directors can help them overcome deficiencies in finance and management that have limited them in achieving their objectives.

Duration: 2 weeks in August- September

ESSENTIAL AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

·         Assess ACALEM’s financial structure

·         Provide training to the board of directors on financial planning and management skills

·         Present recommendations to restructure the finances of the association

Qualifications

 SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Degree in Business Administration, Finance and/or Accounting is preferred.

·         Strong organizational and project management skills

·         Gender and youth strategies.

·         Advanced Spanish is a plus (However a translator will be available if needed).

·         Candidate must be a US citizen or permanent resident.
