Job Description
NBC Sports Bay Area & California is seeking a highly creative and detail-oriented Graphic Designer who will collaborate and work with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Social, Digital, Sales, Studio, and Live Events, to bring brand stories to life, elevate visual communications, and ensure consistency across all creative assets.
You will create graphics that will range from original designs to corporate templates. A key understanding of professional Bay Area and Sacramento sport teams is required to understand and connect with our viewers.
This job is a hybrid role that requires four in-office days per week, reporting to the San Francisco office, and requires some weekend and evening shifts, whenever sports are on the air.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ideation: Brainstorm, develop, and execute creative ideas for the design of original and sales graphics as well as other marketing materials.
- Visual Identity: Strong understanding of typography, color theory, layout, and visual hierarchy.
- Studio Design: Create and deliver graphics to the producers in real time for live and taped productions, including short segment animations, logo elements, monitors, lower thirds, score bugs, opens, bumps, snipes, logo elements, monitors, and full screens.
- Design Creation: Develop innovative and engaging graphics (still and motion graphics) for print and digital platforms, including social media, websites, promotional materials, and templates, and deliver finished assets to production systems on deadline.
- Sales: Ideate and create elements for social client sponsorships, and integrate sponsor branding into existing packages.
- Other: Other duties as assigned by Creative Design Manager, Marketing Manager, and Senior Graphic Designer.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of professional design experience, ideally in sports or entertainment.
- Strong portfolio with a focus on sports branding, marketing, and motion graphics.
- Familiarity with sports culture and trends, especially in the Bay Area and Sacramento.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere).
- Strong aptitude in design composition, typography, and timing.
- Strong graphic design skills and artistic ability in order to translate communication needs into an artistic design.
- Experience in print, digital and motion graphics required; illustration and animation a plus.
