Job Description

The Manager, Investigations supports Universal Studios Hollywood (USH) Security Operations by leading and coordinating investigations across all USH and CityWalk business units. This role oversees sensitive, time-critical inquiries and partners closely with Human Resources, Legal, Labor Relations, and Global Security to ensure matters are handled promptly, objectively, and confidentially. The position provides leadership to the Investigations team, communicates findings and recommendations to stakeholders, and helps strengthen investigative practices, risk mitigation, and compliance across a 24/7 operating environment. This position reports directly to the Sr. Manager of Investigations.
 

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Security Investigations Department in meeting investigative needs, including providing investigative support to internal and external partners such as Human Resources, Legal, Labor Relations, and Global Security.
  • Conduct and oversee prompt, thorough, objective, and confidential investigations of internal and external complaints in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures.
  • Conduct complex investigations and review investigator reports prior to distribution to Senior Management, Human Resources, and Labor Relations.
  • Support the continued growth and professional development of direct reports.
  • Present findings of high-level investigations to Senior Management as requested.
  • Organize and present investigative findings to management and make recommendations on strategies and corrective action.
  • Oversee projects related to security investigations.
  • Support the Manager of Workplace Violence and Compliance Investigations as directed.
  • Conduct analyses and make recommendations on the investigative process, concepts, and techniques.
  • Maintain close liaison with private-sector partners and local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.

Qualifications

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Security, Law Enforcement, or a related profession.
  • 5+ years in a supervisory/lead investigator capacity.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that meets the needs of a 24/7, 365-day operation.
  • Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and walk/travel to multiple venues daily.
  • Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA.
  • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation.
  • High level of integrity and discretion as required to work with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization in the United States.
  • Must be 18+ years old.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience leading investigative teams and the ability to conduct and/or direct others in investigations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively throughout all levels of the organization, including briefing senior leadership and law enforcement agencies.
  • Experience with threat assessment, investigations, and risk management.
  • Strong analytical, fact-finding, and evidence-gathering skills; commitment to confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment in prioritizing work, managing competing priorities, and delivering results under pressure.
  • Strong interviewing skills and experience conducting and managing law enforcement investigations.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Possess required permits/licenses as applicable (e.g., CCW or equivalent, BSIS Guard Card, and Exposed Firearm Permit).

Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
