Job Description

As an NBCUniversal Academic Year intern, you’ll work on real projects, be part of our collaborative culture, and get the support you need to grow - across two full semesters. Academic Year Internship Program Details

Program Dates: September 21, 2026 – April 23, 2027

Time Commitment: 16-24 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need.  We will do our best to accommodate course schedules.

Format: Opportunities listed will require an intern to work from New York, NY.

Universal Television Entertainment is responsible for world-class television entertainment. The division programs and markets content across leading entertainment brands Bravo, NBC and Peacock, and produces over 3,000 hours of television annually through Universal Studio Group, the studio business comprised of Universal Television, UCP, Universal International Studios and Universal Television Alternative Studio.

Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to:

  • Bravo Creative: Assisting Pre-editors with promo and social video production for our Reality Shows, basic editing skills are desirable for screening our shows, identifying and pulling shots for various video projects, participate in brainstorming sessions for various initiatives as necessary, identify fun social opportunities for our reality shows, participate in pre-production and observe shoot day production for video shoots as needed, attend daily approval and production meetings  
  • Bravo Design: Using an existing keyart, the design intern will use Photoshop to help us to make the 75-200 assets needed for each show as it travels across the nonlinear entertainment space. From streaming apps to marketing opportunities, they will be responsible for consumer-facing layouts as well as help execute assets on our social media feeds    
  • Bravo Digital Video: This intern will work alongside Producers/Editors on the Audience Growth & Development video team, with a major focus on Bravo. Our goal is to create video content to help market the Bravo TV shows and the Bravo stars in the best way possible. Our interns work on multiple video projects from pre-production through post-production and delivery. Our interns have the opportunity to work on a variety of video projects. Examples include editing an Instagram story/reels, putting together behind-the-scenes videos filmed at show reunions, creating a 10-minute-long YouTube mash-up video, and helping research throughout a months-long project. The interns will also help develop creative ideas for upcoming interviews and shows 
  • Entertainment Photography: Support East Coast Photo Producers and Post-Production Manager, perform basic photo editing – reviewing photographer unit/episodic coverage and gallery for best images, assist w/post-production process – sort selects from wide edits and caption talent in all photos, sort full photo content into BTS, PULLAWAYS and PLATES folders, perform photo requests for specific search parameters, and work any in-person events, running cards from photographers to editors  
  • Late Night Digital Design: Most often developing premium quality original artwork and marketing designs using Photoshop and Illustrator, to be used on multiple different platforms (including, but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Snapchat, and nbc.com), occasionally developing motion graphics pieces (intro/titles, lower thirds, transitions, subtitles, animated typography, etc), communicate and present design concepts, deliver engaging and high-quality creative assets for all digital platforms, develop strong relationships with our Design, User Experience, Creative, Marketing and Project Teams to ensure quality deliverables, budgets, and timelines are met, establish and maintain digital brand style guide parameters for assigned series 
  • Peacock Creative Marketing: The Peacock Creative Marketing team oversees and produces all promotional material for original shows across the platform, including trailers, promos, digital assets, social pieces, key art and more. This is primarily a video-based role and the ideal candidate should have a basic understanding of video editing software, particularly Adobe Premiere.
  • Peacock Design: From key art and on-platform assets to digital and OOH touchpoints, you’ll get exposure to the full lifecycle of entertainment marketing and a behind-the-scenes look at how original titles are positioned to reach and resonate with audiences! Interns will support the development of key art, thumbnails, and campaign assets for original series and films across platform, digital, and OOH, assist in photo selects and compositing, creating logos for campaigns and more.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2026 through April 2027). December 2026 graduates are not eligible for this Academic Year Internship Program. 
  • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
  • Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be available to work 16-24 hours per week from September 21, 2026 – April 23, 2027.
  • Must be willing to work in New York, NY.

For further clarification, candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g. F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1) are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.

NBCUniversal is an E-Verify company, requiring all employees to have an active Social Security number. Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire. 

Desired Characteristics:

  • Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Interest in typography, branding and layout, publicity and/or marketing preferred.   
  • Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects), AVID, DAM systems a plus.   
  • Adobe Premiere video editing proficiency. 
  • Understanding of Vector manipulation, photo editing, Photoshop manipulation, animation, video editing, and typography layout.
  • Education in Motion, Visual or Interactive Design for Digital is required for some roles.
  • Strong working knowledge of social platforms: Instagram, Tiktok, X, YouTube, and Facebook.
  • Portfolio demonstrating strong visual taste and execution (poster work, photography, or conceptual comps is a plus).
  • Basic understanding of file prep, color, and output considerations for digital and print.
  • Passion for entertainment and pop culture.    
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects.     
  • Highly organized and eager to learn everything photo related. 

The hourly rate for student interns is $19.00.
