Job Description
Performs analysis, design, and engineering support to increase reliability and operational performance of site infrastructure, such as, stormwater drainage, slope stability, electrical distribution, MEP, and utilities associated with theme park and back of house infrastructure. Provides site wide management along with zone/land specific design direction to ensure a cohesive and efficient system is designed and installed. Evaluates condition and operational performance of utilities infrastructure including stormwater basins and conveyance, roads, utility lines during the design process. Manage the General Contractor and vendors during the installation of the civil utility system during the installation phase of the project. Duties include design management and review, contract management, clash detection and coordination, installation oversight, and project completion/handover documentation. All work shall be compliant with applicable codes, regulations, and standards as relevant to the project and UK.
- Develop concepts, manage consultants/vendors, and participate in the design analyses of engineering systems independently evaluating, selecting, and applying scientific or engineering procedures and techniques to assignments.
- Manages assigned projects from design through installation to include developing project scopes, budgets, schedules, construction observations, testing, and training.
- Responsible for assuring quality, cost effectiveness and efficient design to ensure a functional parkwide civil system. Identify problems and related technical issues leading to long-term, implantable solutions; identify technical approach for solving problems.
- Plan assessment schedules and manage design and installation vendors to maintain the project scope and duration. Prepare and present reports to communicate the design and installation progress of the infrastructure scope of work.
- Interact in a collaborative manner with other UC and UDX stakeholders/partners, at any level of the organisation, to resolve site operation problems and design issues.
- Peer reviews designs to ensure compliance with company standards / local regulations and to advocate for longevity, ease of maintenance, and safety. Participate in applicable information sessions, design reviews, staff meetings, safety meetings and other sessions that ensure and encourage communications, teamwork, and continuing process improvement.
- Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (BEng or BSc) in Civil Engineering
- Proven ability to work effectively with team members of diverse experience levels and educational backgrounds.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, plans, and technical specifications.
- Experience producing technical drawings, specifications, acceptance/commissioning test procedures, and maintenance and training documentation.
- Working knowledge of relevant UK and international codes and standards, including but not limited to:
- UK Building Regulations
- British Standards (BS / BS EN)
- Eurocodes
- Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) or equivalent infrastructure standards
- Awareness of Environment Agency requirements where applicable
- Strong analytical skills with a logical and structured approach to problem solving, capable of troubleshooting complex technical issues; organised, self‑motivated, and a strong team player.
- Experience within the Architectural, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry, ideally in complex operational environments.
- Effective communication skills, including oral communication and written documentation, such as technical reports, drawings, and memos.
- Familiarity with UK and European materials and testing standards (e.g. BS, EN, ISO), particularly as they apply to large‑scale facilities and themed or operational environments.
