Universal Pictures International (UPI) owns and operates direct theatrical marketing and distribution of feature films in many locations around the globe including Australia & New Zealand.  Locally in Australia Universal Pictures also holds the distribution rights for Warner Bros theatrical products.  For a century, Universal has been known for its diverse slate of films, including classics such as The Jurassic Park series, Minions, Wicked and Oppenheimer.

Job Description

This is a 12 months fixed term contract sits within the Theatrical Marketing team in the Partnerships Department and plays a pivotal role in showcasing our studio’s titles to our trade partners/ cinemas. Reporting to the Head of Partnerships, the Senior Trade Marketing, Events & Communications Executive also supports the Managing Director in developing and delivering high-impact trade presentations. The role leads trade marketing efforts for titles under the $8M box office threshold and blends creative storytelling with strong stakeholder collaboration. Proficiency in design tools such as Photoshop, InDesign, and Premiere Pro is essential to produce compelling visual and video presentations that support broader marketing objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Exhibition Marketing

  • Working with the Head of Partnerships ANZ,  create strategies to support specialty titles eg : Horror (Blumhouse) and Art House (Focus Features), including general marketing, screening events, activations and general local area partnerships.
  • Prepare and present half-yearly strategies with Palace, Dendy, Moving Story, Cremorne Hayden Orpheum, NOVA.
  • Develop and distribute approved marketing materials, bespoke assets, content, digital and social assets.
  • Work closely with Media Lead on co-op advertising, sponsorships and social media support campaigns.
  • Work closely with Publicists to maximise talent access for on screen ID’s, meet and greets, content creation and film festivals.
  • Contribute to studio campaign reports and presentations.

Trade Marketing Presentations & AV Management

  • Collaborate with the Managing Director to shape the narrative of trade marketing presentations and co-author scripts.
  • Develop supporting on-screen slides, securing assets from studio head offices or briefing creative agencies where necessary.
  • Manage AV assets with head office, creating run sheets and ensuring all materials are secured and approved.
  • Work with event stakeholders to brief presentation requirements across AV, staging, lighting, effects, rehearsals, and autocue.
  • Engage external vendors for high-production elements such as pre-recorded introductions, performers, or special effects.
  • Manage all logistics for executives participating in events, Talent & Presenter Coordination
  • Oversee travel, accommodation, and rehearsal schedules.
  • Support presenters with script revisions, costuming, autocue setup, and rehearsal planning.
  • Capture all AIMC activities, including activations and takeovers, through high-resolution imagery, video, and commentary for archival and future reference.

Events & Trade Marketing

  • Coordinate studio participation in key industry events,  trade conventions, screenings, and sponsorship activations.
  • Manage logistics for team participation at these trade events, including dinners and meetings. 
  • Liaise with event organizers and stakeholders on studio presence, including attendee questionnaires, POS/standee activations, and staging elements outside of the main presentation.
  • Coordinate major sponsorships at these conventions,  managing budgets, liaising with third-party contractors, and overseeing entertainment, staging, and production.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Ability to use design based programs (ie. Photoshop, Premiere Pro Video Editing, In Design)
  • Passion for film and greater knowledge of cinema.
  • Strong Windows office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent attention to detail and an eye for creative layout
  • Understanding of media formats and required materials.  This includes a thorough knowledge of technical requirements and language related to creative requirements ie. Specs, file formats, file sizes etc
  • Strong knowledge of digital media formats and landscape
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Enjoy collaboration and working within a team environment;
  • Creativity

Desired Characteristics :

  • Bachelor of Media and Communication (Digital Media or Film & Video Production) or Bachelor of Arts (Film and Media Studies & Marketing) with digital production skills.
