Job Description

NBC 7 and Telemundo 20 San Diego internships provide students with real world experience and exposure to working in the television news industry.  Internships at NBC 7 and Telemundo 20 are paid and do not require course credit.

Responsibilities:

As a Production Intern for our station, you will …

  • Learn about industry-specific technologies used to create live newscasts.
  • Shadow APC Operators during pre-production and execution of newscasts.
  • Receive hands-on training with Automated Production Control technology.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Must be familiar with Windows OS and PC environments.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Must have basic knowledge of TV studio operations.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program and able to provide documentation to confirm your degree progress. Spring 2026 graduates are not eligible for our Summer 2026 internship program.
  • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits). Students with a class standing of junior or above preferred.
  • Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States.
  • The ability to work in-person at the San Diego station for 15 hours per week.

  • Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed in-person at our San Diego station.

Compensation: The hourly rate for this internship is San Diego minimum wage which is currently $17.75 per hour.
