At our Universal City office, interns will have access to the NBCUCommutes program, which provides fully subsidized transit passes to full-time lower lot employees, good for unlimited rides on all Metro bus and rail, such as the Metro Red Line.

Summer 2025 Internship Program:

Program Dates: June 2 – August 8, 2025
Time Commitment: 40 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need.
Format: Opportunities listed will require an intern to work from Universal City, CA.

Universal Filmed Entertainment Group: (UFEG) consists of the operations to produce, acquire, market and distribute filmed entertainment worldwide in various media formats for theatrical, home entertainment, television and other distribution platforms. The division operates globally with colleagues spread across 20 countries. We pride ourselves in supporting and amplifying diverse stories told by unique voices. Universal Studio Group: (USG) encompasses NBCUniversal’s television production studios: Universal Television (UTV), Universal Content Productions (UCP), NBCUniversal International Studio, and Universal Television Alternative Studio (UTAS). USG produces over 100 scripted and unscripted series across multiple countries around the globe for buyers in broadcast, cable, and streaming. Network partners include NBC, Peacock, Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Apple, HBO, BBC, ITV, Channel 4, CTV, ABC, FOX, and ABC among many others.
Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to:
Film & Studios Overhead: Overhead is one of the main cost drivers in the Film and overall STUDIOS profit and loss. It accounts for all the indirect costs related to running the business, including compensation, rent, insurance and other enterprise costs, like systems. The Film & STUDIOS HQ Overhead team roles up under the bigger Film & STUDIOS FP&A team and is one of the main Finance pillars along with Ultimates, P&L and Cash. Responsibilities may include updating Cost Center reports for management, forecasting/Pacing Overhead changes to the P&L, including validations and commentary of budget and estimate variance, and managing headcount changes and reporting.
Global Distribution Controllership: NBCUniversal Global Distribution is responsible for the sales and distribution of NBCUniversal product to all forms of television and new media platforms in over 200 territories across the globe with a revenue portfolio exceeding $5 billion per year. This includes a rich library of more than 4,200 feature films and 110,000 television episodes, including current and classic titles, non-scripted programming, sports, news, long-form and short-form programming, and locally produced content from around the world. The intern will be responsible for assisting Global Distribution Accounting and Reporting with the monthly and quarterly close process, financial audit and SOX compliance, customer audits, and monthly reporting to third parties for whom NBCU serves as the distribution agent.
Global Distribution Finance: NBCUniversal Global Distribution is responsible for the sales and distribution of NBCUniversal product to all forms of television and new media platforms in over 200 territories across the globe with a revenue portfolio exceeding $5 billion per year. This includes a rich library of more than 4,200 feature films and 110,000 television episodes, including current and classic titles, non-scripted programming, sports, news, long-form and short-form programming, and locally produced content from around the world. This intern will be an integral part of the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team. They will be involved in film greenlight analysis, budgeting, and pre & post-theatrical release revenue forecasting. This intern will be working directly with the film finance team to provide Film HQ and senior leadership with multi-scenario title revenue estimates and ad hoc analyses of the business’s strategic initiatives. They will be able to identify key trends in the market and provide insightful recommendations based on their findings.
Global Distribution Finance, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment: The Global FP&A team at UPHE oversees the budgeting and forecasting process for our world-wide Home Entertainment business. We oversee over $1 billion in revenues spanning both the digital and physical categories. The Digital Home Entertainment side of the business oversees the sale of our films via transactional digital methods such as renting or purchasing through Amazon Prime Video. The Physical Home Entertainment side of the business oversees the sale of our films via physical methods such as Blu-ray. The intern would work on the Global FP&A team, which is responsible for the financial results not just for the U.S., but for international territories such as Australia, France, Germany, Japan, and the UK. The intern will be reporting directly to the Director of Finance but will be working closely with all members of the team.
NBCU Studio Group Finance: NBCU Studio Group oversees the development, production, and marketing/distribution of our Film & TV Content. The Studio Group Finance team is responsible for the financial consolidation, reporting and analysis of the Film & TV studios. Our FP&A team works closely with each respective studio to align on pacing, quarter close and communication with NBCUniversal Corporate. This intern will have an opportunity to update Studio Group Finance reporting packs, including income statements, product line financials, and studio slate compositions, as well as assist in the creation of Studio Group Business Op Review presentations, including key performance indicator metrics (ultimate profitability, full year tracking, volume delivery.)
Universal Studios Group, TV Production Finance: This intern will have ownership of digital record-keeping processes for our shows, P-card management, invoice coding/processing, and creating or maintaining cheat sheets for important show info.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (June 2025 through August 2025). May 2025 graduates are not eligible for our Summer 2025 Internship Program.
Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States.
Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA.
For further clarification, candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g. F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1) are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.
NBCUniversal is an E-Verify company, requiring all employees to have an active Social Security number. Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire.
Desired Characteristics:
Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
Students pursuing a degree in Finance, Economics, or related field preferred.
Previous internship or work experience within finance.
Strong interest in the media industry.
Ability to multitask and highly organized.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
The hourly rate for student interns is $25.00.
