Job Description

The Business Development Manager (uMeds) is responsible for identifying, engaging and converting medicinal cannabis (MC) clinics to the uMeds platform, while ensuring existing clinic relationships are actively maintained and strengthened over time. This role focuses on building new commercial partnerships, managing the end-to-end sales process, and supporting successful onboarding to drive long-term clinic engagement and patient outcomes.

Working closely with the National Sales Manager and broader commercial team, the role is responsible for maintaining a healthy sales pipeline, delivering compelling value propositions, and ensuring opportunities progress efficiently from initial engagement through to activation.

Beyond new business acquisition, the role carries a strong account management focus - owning the ongoing relationship with existing uMeds clinics, driving engagement and script volume growth within the current portfolio, and ensuring accounts are retained and continually supported after activation.

This is a field-based role requiring interstate travel to engage clinics, attend industry events and conferences, and support business development activities across multiple states.

Business Development & Commercial Execution (Interstate Travel Required):

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within the medicinal cannabis clinic market.
  • Present the uMeds value proposition and tailor solutions to meet individual clinic needs.
  • Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting through to signed agreement and activation.
  • Negotiate partnership terms and commercial agreements with prospective clinics.
  • Drive new revenue through partner-led initiatives and strategic alliances within the clinic network.

Account Management & Retention (Interstate Travel Required):

  • Own the ongoing relationship with existing uMeds clinics post-onboarding, acting as their primary point of contact.
  • Conduct regular account reviews with existing clinics to monitor engagement, platform usage and satisfaction.
  • Identify and execute opportunities to grow script volume and platform usage within the existing clinic portfolio.
  • Proactively manage account health, resolving issues and escalations promptly to minimise churn risk.
  • Support the retention and renewal of existing clinic partnerships, ensuring long-term account value.

Relationship Management & Cross-Functional Leadership:

  • Build and maintain relationships with clinic owners, prescribing doctors and practice managers.
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to ensure a smooth onboarding experience.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support partner success and co-marketing opportunities.
  • Represent uMeds professionally at customer meetings, conferences and industry events as required.

Performance, Compliance & Reporting

  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date sales pipeline within HubSpot CRM.
  • Conduct regular follow-up with prospective clinics to progress opportunities and overcome barriers.
  • Provide market intelligence and competitor insights to support business growth.
  • Monitor conversion outcomes and report pipeline performance and insights to the National Sales Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation (including TGA requirements), industry standards, and Montu's governance framework.
  • Interstate travel is required to support business development activities, conferences and customer engagement.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success in business development or account management.
  • Proven experience managing and growing a portfolio of existing accounts, including retention and upsell.
  • Experience within healthcare, pharmaceuticals or medicinal cannabis is highly desirable.
  • Strong commercial acumen with excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to analyse market trends and translate insights into actionable growth strategies.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems (HubSpot or similar), data analysis, and reporting tools.
  • Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Understanding of TGA regulations, Authorised Prescriber pathways and Special Access Schemes is desirable.
  • Willingness and ability to travel interstate 1-2 times per month, as required by the role.
