Job Description

Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, the Finance Manager will oversee all financial processes and matters across the organisation. The position will be hands-on in nature ensuring best practice, driving process improvements, and contributing to the strategic direction of the business from a financial perspective.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accounting and Reporting
    • Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
    • Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting process, including the preparation of annual financial statements.
    • Provide insightful financial reporting and appropriate commentary to senior leadership on a monthly and quarterly basis.
    • Taxation:  Prepare BAS, GST, FBT and PAYG returns.
    • Ensure compliance with IFRS and other regulatory requirements.
    • Coordinate internal and external audits.
  • Internal Controls
    • Oversee the effective provision of sound accounting principles and reporting controls, ensuring that the department and source systems have processes for quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
    • Work closely with the Head of Finance, external business partners, and regulatory bodies to ensure processes that affect financial reporting are effective and efficient while enhancing internal controls and complying with accounting policies. 
    • Continuously review and improve systems and processes,overseeing the creation of process manuals for all processes being undertaken.
  • Team Development
    • Provide guidance  and mentor the finance team, fostering a collaborative and high performance culture.
    • Support and promote a working environment and services that are inclusive, accessible and celebrate diversity. 

Qualifications

  • Finance/accounting background with experience in a similar role.
  • CPA preferred.
  • An audit background will be advantageous in this position 
  • Experience working in larger organisations (250+ employees) with rigorous financial reporting processes
  • Exposure to entities that have inventory management and accounting 
  • Solid understanding of financial management systems, experience with Xero accounting software preferred.
  • Ability to interpret, tabulate and present complex and meaningful data to key stakeholders.
  • Well versed in accounting standards and legislation, contemporary financial management practices and policies.
  • Ability to quickly identify discrepancies in financial data and investigate accordingly.
  • Experience in a high-growth and fast-paced environment is preferred.
  • Self-driven and highly entrepreneurial attitude.
