Job Description
This role is responsible for test development, troubleshooting, and validating low and medium voltage products including electrical Switchgear, Switchboards, Panelboards, and Breaker’s. The Production Test Engineer ensures that products meet industry standards and client specifications.
Responsibilities:
- In-depth knowledge of testing processes for low and medium voltage products, including electrical switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, breakers, and motor control centers (MCCs). Experience with insulation resistance testing and functional testing.
- Strong understanding of breaker control devices and all associated parameters.
- Control system knowledge with understanding of the interaction between embedded and distributed controls.
- Modify technical documents such as the SOO and User Manuals.
- Work closely with Test Technicians and Design Engineers to diagnose and resolve problems.
- Ability to identify issues with electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Ability to create and perform ITP’s and FAT’s.
- Maintain Repair/Calibration database and test records.
- Job entries & maintenance of records on database including associated paperwork and time tracking.
- Prepare detailed service and failure records.
- Ability to meet project deadlines and strong focus on customers.
- Ability to train others and manage teams in varied settings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
- Proven experience with low voltage equipment
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in testing, troubleshooting & failure analysis of equipment
- Sound theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience on electrical testing including ability to use Multi Meter, Relay Test Set, Corona test Set
- Satisfactory completion of additional background screening (if applicable).
Required Skill/Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Validating/correcting existing technical documents including test procedures.
- Capable of managing technical tasks with minimal supervision, technical information, and documentation.
- Possess strong analytical skills and ability to interpret schematics.
- Proficient in using computer systems (such as Microsoft Office)
- Experience with AutoCAD or similar design software.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills, and communication skills (written and oral) to convey technical findings/issues/topics to corresponding parties.
- Willingness to train personnel, oversee teams and perform as part of a team.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Safety glasses and equipment for daily use. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn, and this can be obtained from the MCG Fastenal cabinet.
- Hand protection, either cut resistant gloves or Leather work gloves as appropriate.
- Hearing protection when required. Earmuffs assigned by safety office for fabrication area.
- Steel or Composite toe boots or shoes for daily use will be purchased by the employee. Reimbursement may be requested for one pair once a year.
- Physical exertion may vary depending on position type. May be required to regularly stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, frequently stand or walk around the work area, and lift or move objects up to 50 lbs.
- Assembling may involve manipulating small parts and using hand tools. Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity are essential for this job. Comfortable with occasional repetitive motions.
- Must be able to follow instructions and stay alert to potential hazards on the shop floor.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the assigned facilities.
- Manufacturing facilities can be loud and have bright lights. Subjective to seasonal weather conditions (hot in summer and cold in winter months).
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the assigned facilities.
- Availability for infrequent, sporadic travel between local facilities (North Wales & West Chester), and possible travel to customer sites.
